UMaine Hockey Offseason: Insert Funny Title Here

Re: UMaine Hockey Offseason: Insert Funny Title Here

Good to see the Official schedule...time to make plans and "HOPING" for more progress by Maine this season....like a better playing in there own zone defense/ total buy in on the whole team gets involved in the defensive part of the game/ smart hockey as in no MORE stick/hooking type penalty's and the DREADED too many men on the ice penalty.....and the steady improvement of Swayman in net...he's a BIG KEY in Maine's improvement in wins and moving up in the Hockey East standings and a chance @ a NCAA bid...wishful thinking as I said....but what the heck....go Maine..!

Fossier and Tralmaks invited to NHL camps this year; Boston and Ottawa respectively.

Jack Studnicka, a forward for the Oshawa Generals and a 2nd round draft pick of the Bruins in 2017, is being touted as a strong candidate to join the Bruins this year. Is he the son of former UMaine player Todd Studnicka (1984-88)?

ADD Holway and Person with Detroit...Keeper with Minnesota...Mundinger with N.Y. Rangers...Swayman with Boston and now that Nolan Vesey has been traded by Toronto to Edmonton he is @ the Oilers Development Camp. Total to date of 8 players, counting Tralmarks and Fossier.

I am surprised not to see Binner's name too. And actually Westerlund. I believe Westerlund will flourish soon. Watching him it will only take a bit more time and the right linemates and he will score easy, great hands it seems to me. Also Schmidt-Svestrup should be an invite somewhere. Hopefully Dawe too. I watched Dawe play, I think he will have an immediate impact for our Blackbears. But he doesn't have that nhl frame. But JSS does and will need to work on his skating burst first step, and top end speed. Maine is in a great position going forward in my opinion.

Talent may better but not sure the coaching is. Going to find out in a few months.

I don't know if i'd go as far as in a great position... good position is reasonable.

Dawe needs more speed - You can't be the size of Marty St. Louis and make it in pro hockey unless you have his speed. He's definitely faster than Cam Brown but not NHL Fast... more like AHL fast.

That might be a good thing for Maine.

How are people feeling about next year right now? I have a gut feeling it might be a bit disappointing. I don’t think Maine will be bad, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they wind up in fifth or sixth place again and it’s kind of a wasted year.

This release doesn't mention Mundinger, but has Shea going to Florida's camp.

I think they will be a solid 5th place team in Hockey East, BC, BU at the top with both Providence and UMass-Lowell battling for the 3-4 spot....Maine's schedule looks on the good side imo with say 18 wins 14 losses 2 ties and on the bad side, 15 wins 15 losses 4 ties....but then its only late June...…………….

Always look forward to seeing the veteran players and the incoming guys in the early season. Probably, fustration will set in after winter break. My expectations are not high but expect to see improvement in discipline and defense.
