I think we can all agree on one thing. This weekend is going to show what this team is made of. They need to right the ship and get a couple of Ws.

I refereed for 20 years. I don’t know what this years points of emphasis are, but directly from behind HEAD FIRST into the boards is a major…feet first was never a major

Brad was hit directly from behind into the boards by Providence…Brad’s head smashed violently into the glass and it was a 2…I guess because Brad’s gloves made contact with the dasher before his head smashed the glass?

In the same game as the Nobes/Gagne hit, Brazeale took a crosscheck directly from behind that landed him on his azs (while he was carrying the puck)…no call (the major -minor difference is supposed to be whether the players are going into the boards….if the Brazeale hit was legal, then the Gagne hit should have also been a legal hit)

just be consistent

and for God’s sake watch behind the play for the dirty hits and takedowns of Josh…UNH got away with it all night long…they added the second ref so that one could watch the play while the other could watch behind the play.

UNH did it all weekend. If they aren't going to call it, they will keep doing it. I heard the refs a couple of times say "Let him go" and didn't make a call to set an example. If they call ONE interference penalty on the behind the play BS it would set the tone for the game but they allowed it all weekend. Which can you blame UNH? If it isn't being called keep doing it.

Absolutely. Good teams win, great teams win through adversity. Look at Michigan football...

The suspension to Houle hurts because he is a really smart, well rounded player that can skate, score, check, and play without the puck. We need some more from NadaeuX2 and Breen. Breen hasnt scored in 7 games.

I did not blame unh at all…i ask that the refs be consistent. One of Walsh’s best assets was teaching his guys just how much clutch and grab and late hits and interference would be overlooked. Jack Parker knew this also. I don’t blame the teams for breaking the rules just enough not to get called.

Definitely need more from Breen, hasn’t scored in 12 games actually. Yet to score in ‘24. He’s such a great player but seems to have lost his touch around the net. Freel also seems to have gone cold the past few games.

Houle, Scott and Josh Nadeau have been most of the offense since the start of the new year.

My only beef with refs this weekend was once again Josh gets beat up after the play. How they missed his head getting slammed into the glass is beyond.

Has been happening since the beginning of the season...with Josh he bounces up and plays his usual tough spirted game...on the other hand his brother Bradley does not respond as well and teams are under his skin...that and teams have taken his one dimensional offense away from him...the facts are they are a smaller to at times soft team and teams know it...pound them over and over...and with no calls that will be other teams recipe...

I don’t see many folks claiming Maine is a great team anymore. Maine is 2-4 in February. So, by your rule this means we are aloud to complain about bad calls. :D

Most to all the calls on Maine have been legit...and the problem is teams have figured how Maine clicks...speed...stop the speed and go with a grinding pounding game and most of the time it takes any chances for Maine to come out on top...expecting NU to slow the game down @center ice,fore-check deep and take the body over and over...wear Maine down and give them no flow on the ice....frustrate them to no end.

Didn't have a chance to post yesterday after practice.

There was a heavy emphasis on the transition game and breakouts from their own zone. It's been a problem for the last month+ once teams figured out not to bite on the little bumper passes near the boards.

A lot of 3x3 rushes into the zone with speed. Barr made sure to call them out a couple times to play faster. Seems like they want a lot of quick counters up ice to neutralize any forecheck NU can throw at them.

No Chabrier, Arnott or Trudeau at practice. Looked like #15 was riding the cardio bike with some sort of boot on. Would really suck if he misses any time.

Another thing I noticed during a couple of the drills was Bradly passing up shots to make an extra pass. Since the team came back from break, #82 has averaged a full shot less per game (3.78/gm down to 2.78/gm). While normally I'd be all about a player being unselfish, not sure I want the guy with the best shot passing them up when the team is going through a rough patch. He needs to shoot his way out of this one.

My biggest concern with Brad is that he has not improved over the course of the season. His stick handling and dangling are inferior to not only Josh, but also to Scholle, Breen, Charbrier and Brazeale. The concern is that his family advisor and/or Carolina might want him getting trained elsewhere.

yes, he is a superb talent, he picks pockets on the backcheck as well as Purcell, but I have not seen improvement except perhaps he is a bit more physical than at the beginning of the season

#82 needs to know when to let it fly...not getting blocked and opposition going back up ice with it...a fake or two plus a nifty pass is needed(just imo)
