Mass was dominant for about the first 15 mins of that period, but Maine looked much better and was carrying the play in the final 5 or so, had a few good chances too. Still 1-0 headed into the third.

Boija looks great so far, he’s quick to recover and poised on initial shots. Maine caught a break on that offsides where UMass had a goal taken away. On that play Lesakowski needs to just play the guy lift his stick and get that forward out of the net front. He’s the biggest strongest d man we have, so he has to do that. I did like the defense in general though. Need some more poise when shooting as Maine is getting good chances but can’t get it on net. Scholle had a great drive to the net but evidently didn’t pull the trigger. Oh well, let’s hope the defense and goaltending remains strong. Imagine UMass will give everything they have left in the tank to equalize the score. This is a big moment to see what type of backbone Maine has.

A few years ago we would have killed for any road wins, let alone a road win over a top-15 team. Last night sucked, letting a winnable game slip away but glad to see the bounce back in a tight game tonight.

Was hoping Maine would have better speed through the neutral zone tonight and use the larger ice more. They just kept trying to dump and retrieve (and it really didn't work).

Boija continues to impress. Calm under pressure in the crease. Hope to see him back in net next Friday at home.

Huge win to salvage the weekend. Carvel must be absolutely livid with his team given how many times they missed the net.

Looks like Providence is going to shoot themselves in the foot again tonight. Alfond should be rocking next weekend.

edit: hard to believe Umass only had 15 shots on net.

Maine gets a big commitment tonight from 2007 born D Dylan Lebret out of Shattuck St. Mary's. If Barr can starting mining talent consistently from that program....that'll be good news for Maine.

Awesome. He was drafted round 1 pick 3 in the WHL draft and is playing up a year for Shattuck. Evidently he is tough to beat 1-on-1 and is a shutdown type defender, but good at breaking the puck out as well. Not so much of an offensive defensemen in the o zone though. Sounds like a great d prospect!

Antonacci And Boija were the stars of the game.

Chabrier with a great early goal, sometimes I feel the boys overpass. Barr has mentioned that near the top of list on PP struggles. loved seeing him just take it in from the blue line and use the other forward as a distraction.

We all know what Barr should do in net, but what will he do? Lose Ostman’s head space for the year if plays Boija in both next weekend?
