UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

New recruit Sam Duerr...

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/418239/samuel-duerr

He is a 3.75 out of 5 rated by Nuetral Zone. He is described as a strong physical defensemen with great poise at the point and good hands... great passing. The knock was he gets running around a bit, so seems like needs develop better instincts in his own end. It is an elite program he is playing for, so that is impressive. Sounds like a solid recruit. Likely won’t be here until 21/22 at earliest but more probably 22/23 after year of USHL.

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

So who are considered to be Maine's top 5 committed recruits at this point?

Seems like....

1. Guillaume Richard
2. Lynden Breen
3. Mikael Huchette
4. Brad Morrissey
5. Josh Langford

???

I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I'd put Tim Gould somewhere on that list too.

That is a good list. I think Renwick deserves to be in there. It is very difficult to rank these recruits. But I like it when a player plays USHL and is a regular in the line up. Renwick has been. Breen has done very well. Morrissey has done well when he has played. For whatever reason he has missed some games.

Edit: I found out Morrissey was injured two separate times.

Morrissey just ended several kids bigger than him. I want him in next year, and Breen, and Renwick.

Looks like he is a 4.0 rated recruit according to neutral zone. He is playing well in USHL. These are great things. I think a tandem of Thiessen and Ostman will be very solid. They are describing him as big and athletic with good rebound control. However needs work on skating and has tendency to play too low. Seems like this report is old though. I am surprised there is so little info on him seeings he is the top goalie for Chicago. He is on a list of potential late round picks for over aged players for nhl draft. Seems like might not get drafted. We shall see. But this is a very good pickup it seems if Swayman leaves early.

According to Mahoney in today's Bangor Daily, Maine on the verge of signing a scorer. 6 ft.-1 176 lb. Felix Trudeau who played for the Northwood School in Lake Placid. A 17 yr. old who scored 30 goals and 33 assists in 55 games. Plays right wing with left handed shot. Scheduled to play at Maine in 2021. He's from Terrebonne, Quebec.
