UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Strange a Mainer committed to Maine isn't getting more attention(from media).

He has 4 years of junior eligibility remaining. We all wish there was more media attention surrounding the team but it is probably a little premature to start dedicating media attention to a recruit that far off. A lot can happen between now and then.

Tonight the hockey world will be cheering for the Humboldt Broncos as they return to the ice for the first time since last April's tragic accident. The two returning players who were involved will wear "A's" this year with no "C" assigned in honor of the team captain who was lost in the accident. A remarkable and significant moment as community, family, friends, and team take one more step towards healing. Wishing all the best to the Broncos past, present, and future.

Breen played top line center for Central Illinois(USHL) in the first preseason game and scored a goal.

Sorry, the article said UMaine's recruiting is improving, thanks to Ben Guite and Alfie Michaud, but we ranked 9th out of 11 HE schools, ahead of Merrimack and Vermont.

Ive been doing some research of every team's group of freshmen; Maine is the only school so far that dosen't have anyone taken in the draft coming in. Maine's is also the smallest so far, though I haven't made it through every team yet.

Merrimack and UVM don’t either. Don’t believe UMass does either but not 100 percent...

Dawe and Schmidt-Svestrup are highly rated according to neutral zone. In fact, in the past three classes only Swayman and Pearson ranked higher. Then you have Butala which is a defensive defensemen that won't rate as high as two way guys, but could fill a much needed role on the team... at home penalty killing type. He played in 114 USHL games, which is a lot of great experience. Lastly you have Lindelow, that seems to be lower rated. It seems as though he is a defensive minded forward, maybe good penalty killer? I think this class, despite the low ranking, will improve Maine. I am very much looking forward to the exhibition game to see the new players.

Their game tomorrow night is one of the free hockey Tv games of the week.

Also in that free section on Saturday at 5:30 pm is a chance to watch Jack Moran of the Islanders(NCDC). He is a 6'4" 225 lbs left shot defensemen that was described as needing some polish. Evidently is prone to an occasional mistake. But he is big with powerful stride, good balance, and is great on the boards and manages his gaps well.
