UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

Probably Bishop played a role(in a big goalie from Dallas at 17 years old). Sucks Dallas is out, and Bishop had back injury. Nice that Shore is on Stars and is playing well.

Probably more Dallas players can consider Maine. There is a highly recruited player on that team I am told. Force is strong you in know I. - Yoda

Also, there seems to be a solid Notre dame hound from Florida on defense Maine should take a look at.

No April fools from me today, serious this time... I promise.

So what's the deal with watching a couple of these games? I wouldn't mind seeing the Fargo/Sioux Fall series this weekend. It would be fun to see a match up between JSS and Dawe.

I don't know how to watch for free, I paid for a subscription for hockey tv. It is at hockeytv.com.

It is kind of expensive, but for example I can watch 5 Maine recruits(JSS, Dawe, Butala, Drobot, Theissen) play every night over the span of the next week except for Sunday night. I doubt I can swing that, but it is available for me.

One nice thing is that you can go back and watch old games. So I did some of that just to see how the recruits played throughout the season.

These are the positives. The negative is that some of the cameras in the Canadian leagues are grainy. For example, a lot of Kleibor games in SJHL are grainy. I find virtually all USHL broadcasts are decent. And a lot of NAHL and BCHL games are decent. But outside of these you can find some borderline quality from time to time that is disappointing. I did find using Firefox as web browser helped with reliability, even though I am not sure why.

So you show know these things before you pay and don't like the quality. But for me it is worth it because I can overlook quality problems just being thrilled I can watch junior hockey online at all. It is fun to watch future blackbears before they get here. Also, it is fun to watch top recruits from other hockey east schools to see how their players play. And it is fun to watch USA hockey players play... specifically I enjoyed watching Wahlstrom even though he isn't coming to Maine anymore.

I often times watch games the next day because then I can hit the skip ahead 15 seconds button to condense the viewing experience. But you can watch as much hockey as you can stomach, I think. :)

Also, they have free games to view each week. If I see Sioux Falls vs. Fargo is a free one this up an coming weekend I will post it ahead of time.

Thanks, I agree, pretty pricey @ $25/month for annual subscription. It may be worth it for one month ($30?). I assume there's an Amazon Fire and/or Roku app.

Re: UMaine Black Bears Recruiting

I suppose so. I saw hockey tv roku advertised. But I have 60 inch uhd tv and it doesn't cast well. :)

So this is as much to say you get what you pay for. :)

It won't be an enjoyable view... But if you like Maine hockey you can watch on tablet or small pc and enjoy.

Thiessen at #4 North American goalie is remarkable. Swayman was 12th rated goalie in North America for their final rankings last season and went halfway in the 4th. Last year's 4th rated NA goalie went very early in the third. If that were to happen I wonder if this means Thiessen would come to Maine next season?

I would guess he does a year in the USHL then shows up. It will be interesting to see how Red juggles Swayman, Thiessen, and the kid who just committed.
