As the saying goes time heals all wounds. Did Larry or anyone else get a chance to talk to him? It seems like the BDN hasn't had much coverage.

I did see Larry around during the social portion prior to the banquet talking to Jimmy and a few others. Kariya didn't arrive until just before the dinner started so idk if Larry hung around that long, I didn't see him after that.

Re: UMaine Black Bears, 2017-2018 season, is this Reds last stand?

The old Jacques Lemaire system of rotating Captains? I've read that a good bunch of his former players really liked that.

Not the worst way to incentivize players to step up and earn that letter.

Funny to see Pellerin and Carney both wore C's under his tenure with the Wild
Not a bad idea....maybe change every month of the season....maybe keep one steady C, and one steady A.....and rotate the other A

It would sure be nice to see Maine Hockey put the NAME of Grant Standbrook up with 8, 9, 19, SW in the rafters banner....was quite a weekend to witness how many people he has touched over the years. Seeing his former players, coaches, fans, and many-many friends in and around the area and country that just loved the man for not just hockey but for the all around great human being he is...a classy gentlemen through and through....c'mon Maine Hockey get in gear and add his NAME to the Banner in the Rafters.

I don't think you'll meet anyone who disagrees that Grant deserves a spot in the rafters. The University needs to make this happen.

Do you know if this year's team spent any time with the '93 team? Hopefully PK spends more time around Orono in the years to come.

This year's team meet with the 93 team members who went to the football game on Saturday before the game. Grant, Jimmy and Paul spoke to what it means to wear a Maine hockey sweater.

What else I took from this past weekend was how the fans got involved, by that people were out and about and talking hockey and that sure was because of this group that to a man was the best college team put together. A special time and sadly it has been going down each and every year [ 2002 and on], hopefully this incoming group plus the returning roster players from last year take something out of this.....the fans from that era sure did, great to see so many people and hear story's and details of what Maine Hockey was to all.....special times and I have said it before.....we were all spoiled.

Speaking of the 92-93 team

From the archives: 1992-93 ticket information (originally posted by John Grover)

SEASON'S TIX
$198 for 18 games. These tickets are premium. There is no discount for students, alumni, or anything. Furthermore, there is a waiting line to get them -- currently 1100 people are waiting. Once you get tickets they are yours each year until you give them up.

STANDING ROOM
$8 the night of the game. None are sold in advance. Doors open about an hour ahead of the game, but the line usually starts queuing an hour before that.

STUDENT SPORTS PASS
This is the deal to get - may even be worth signing up for classes! Each full-time student can get either a sports pass or extended health coverage. If the student chooses the sports pass he/she gets one free ticket to each game. That is if he/she is in the first 1500 students. That's all that are allocated to the students.

DONOR
One of the 2 ways I know to ensure yourself of tickets for the upcoming season. Donate a minimum of $500 to the Black Bear Fund and you get a season ticket, which costs you $198 so the total is $698 or about $39 per game. You can keep your ticket as long as you keep donating the minimum.

SKYBOX
These were added with the renovations to Alfond, and the coming year will be the first they have been used (although they were used in last years quarter final against Merrimack). These boxes overlook the goal at one end, and each holds about 8 people. Price: $10,000 per year with a 10 year minimum.

AND with that price you got a WINNING hockey program.

Plus a coach who was willing to commit a few recruiting violations and the richest man in Maine letting the program use his credit card. What a bargain!

I bought standing room tickets for every game before the season started and did for years. They stopped it a few years after 92-93

Speaking of tickets, has anyone received their season ticket package yet? First game is less than two weeks from today.
