Re: UMaine Black Bears, 2016 2017 season thread

I watched the UVM game tonight.. don't worry I don't think you will come in last.. UVM just might do that. I figure 9th at best..
Maine got smoked by New Brunswick last year, losing an exhibition game to a Canadian college isn't a good sign.

St Francis beat UConn so they must be OK, didn't look at box score to see how many penalties. I imagine they will be tired for Maine, 4 pm start,

I guess Larry isn't going to bother with a season preview this year. There is a story about one of the players on the team Maine is playing but only a couple sentences about Maine. The coverage this year has been very disappointing and certainly doesn't help attendance. Someone mentioned Red doesn't like to talk to the media but why bother trying to hold much back this time of year? The game tomorrow doesn't even mean anything.

I thought last seasons media coverage of Maine hockey was extremely bad, looks like it will be a repeat or worse.
Sure would like to know what the program is thinking, in terms of PR.

I would have agreed with you a few years ago but Tegeler was pretty good and he couldn't even get a game at UMass.....

All due respect, Tegeler was not pretty good. How he made a D1 program was a mystery. He was a 4th line D1 player at best.

Vermont looks like it could be beaten by some of the best HS teams in the state.. the game was that bad.

He was sixth on the team in scoring last year, what does that say about everyone else? He certainly wasn't a great player, but if Maine would have had six guys like him comprising the third and fourth lines the last 10 years they would have been much better off. Maine is only going to get so much high end talent and for them to be successful there needs to be more guys like Tegeler who can play good defensively and also chip in with some points at the bottom of the lineup.

Let's agree to disagree on this one. Maine does not need more guys like Tegeler.

First opening game I've missed in 25 years or more. Kind of sucks not having tickets any more

Go to watch the video, Audio only, way to go Athletic Dept

Maybe my internet isn't fast enough? Just audio with a blank screen, 3-0 Maine, Robbins, Pappalardo, Schurhamer

I would assume some of the penalties are on purpose to practice the PK. It needs a lot of work to say the least.

Yeah right, I would assume no discipline just like the last few few years. Shorthanded fir st francis 5 3 now

Gonna be a long season. But don't worry, things will get better once Red is able to bring his own guys in.
