UMaine '26-'27: The Bridge On the River Stillwater

Except that you don’t know how many comps are going to be given back until 3-4 days before a given game. Same goes with student tickets, extras go on sale the day before if the kids don’t claim them all.
I see they penalize students who get tickets and don't go. Comps given back should be the same. You don't get anymore.

Interesting interaction at the end of the game with the handshakes. Pecknold said something to one of the linesman and he linesman appeared to say F off and was really pissed. I get getting on the refs when they are bad but he was crying constantly all weekend.

I honestly feel like Q expected to sweep this series before Friday's game was even played. Q is talented and will be in the conversation until the end of the season.....but they are not world beaters. One major injury to the wrong goaltender and they become a lot more ordinary.

The Quinnipiac is one of the best series on the schedule. It should be sold out. Kids going on break is a known ahead of time so they should sell those seats sooner, release less to the kids if there is a break. Every year the student breaks are not well attended in balcony. Also, there really is no excuse for not having a full barn with the demand there. Sell them at discount if they don’t get claimed. People in seats also leads to lot of revenue in concourse. I just think the ticket office at Maine is well behind the times and still do ok because the demand is there. But they should be trying to maximize the amount of fans in the building. Empty seats for a marque match up is not doing a good job.

Unless things have changed, comp tickets are in A and B, not the top reaches of the upper bowl. And they aren't as plentiful as the number of tickets that became available Thursday.

Students who request tickets can change their minds until 24 hours prior to the game. If they have a ticket reserved and do not show up they receive a strike. Three strikes and they are done for the season.

They are not going to implement this for comps. Those tickets generally go to parents, former players and the like. Other than relatives, a person usually only uses them once or twice a season anyway. If memory serves, I requested and was given comps to three games over the course of five seasons. It isn't like the same people are using them several times per season. And to be honest, I would question how many comps go unused.

This team is boring....Ben Barr teams are boring.
You thought 2023 and 2024 were boring years?

This team is anything but boring. I was at the games this weekend so just catching up on the thread and comments like this are just incredible from Maine fans. On Saturday for example, the 2nd period it was about as up and down high end college hockey as you will find.

How about we don’t make big declarations 3 games into the season. This team has flaws, but hard working/high motor teams will generate plenty of opportunities and should be entertaining.

Newsflash - they’re not going undefeated this year. They outplayed top 5ish team this weekend and deserved better than a split. Crazy to be negative.

That is all Peckerhead does, every single game. It never stops. He would never last in Hockey East

I take it back.....I was in a bad mood.😛

Ben Barr teams are bit offensively challenged though. They played very hard all weekend....that was awesome.

Barr is not an offensive mastermind. If he is, he has yet to show that in 6 years. I think his teams can become offensively predictable especially as the teams gets into the heart of HE play/2nd half of the year. It’s probably one of two or three main criticisms I see big picture as we start year 6. I think focusing on finding under the radar/chip on their shoulder guys over blue chip players has a lot do with it.

But his teams (besides year 1 and at times last year) work their asses off, play fast, are in great shape, are full of high character kids, have puck moving d cores, and check incredibly well all 200 feet. There is a standard he brings that the program unfortunately lost by the late 00’s.

When he was at UMass, Barr's area of focus, or "expertise", if you will, was working with the defensemen. I dont think, then, that it's a huge surprise that as a head coach, his hallmarks have been more about the blue line than up front. Some guys just skew to one side or the other, and Ben clearly skews defense rather than offense. It is what it is, he is still a good coach regardless.

Knowing the upper echelon scoring talent aren't likely making their way to Orono, I think Barr would prefer a team closer to 24/25 in most cases. A team with a high positive goal differential (24/25's +49 was 15th highest in Maine's history) and just 75 goals allowed which was the second fewest in a full season behind 03/04.

That requires a high level of defensive buy-in to get there and this team isn't quite there yet. I like what I've seen defensively thus far, outside of a few D-Zone breakdowns.

How does it work if a player commits a suspendible offense in a non-conference game? Like if Maine is playing UNH and wants Hockey East to look at something, that's easy. Can Maine call the ECAC and ask them to look into it? Would they (Maine's relationship with Quinnipiac is certainly deeper than with the ECAC as a whole)? Does the league review every major/match penalty sua sponte?
