UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Even when they win they close out the game they manage to go and do something bad for my blood pressure again. I don’t see how they can’t score that empty netter at the end. And it doesn’t even matter but they are still finding ways to get me.

Solid win and crucial hockey east points gained. A regulation win for Maine tomorrow night and a UNH win against UMass will put Maine back in the mix for top 4. Always the optimist, but I like their chances if they can get better goaltending than they did tonight and have been all season.

Huge win. Maybe Im being naive, but I have a glimmer of hope at this point. Theyve played really well in my opinion for a couple weeks running despite not getting results until tonight. Ive noticed some improvement in a few areas, I called Userau a disappointment earlier in the season but he's improved noticeably in recent times. Mannix even mentioned that he's playing with a lot more confidence, and Id agree.

Younger guys really seem to be finding their stride. Wonder if having Poirier and Scott out of the line up lit a flame under the whole team. Fun game and relieved one finally went our way!

Don't know the official Grade A count, but there were far too many for this to still be a tie game in the third period. But at least they won, which is progress.

A regulation win tomorrow and any Lowell win over Northeastern and Maine would jump to 5th. With UMass finishing with a pair against UConn as well as one each against BC and BU, Maine still has a shot at a bye and home ice in the quarters.

Another non-sellout tonight and SRO tickets are available for senior night.

As of now, I'm not going to be able to watch the game live tomorrow night, for only I think the second time this season. I'll probably watch it on Sunday morning. But, and this goes without saying, it's an important one. According to the projections from the site pasted below, if Maine wins tomorrow, they, in a vacuum, would boost to about a 55% chance of a first round bye, and virtually assure that they avoid playing on the road in the opening game (~2% chance). If they win and UHN does them a solid by beating UMass, they would have a punchers shot at 4th, i.e first round bye and quarterfinal home ice (about 24% chance). However, if they lose, in a vacuum they have about a 20% chance of a road first round game, and chance of a bye become quite slim (16% chance, and only 2% chance for 4th place). Need to go back out there and play another good game like tonight.
