UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Okay guys nobody wants to hear it but we may be losing the locker room. Barr has made some bad decisions this year. He is wearing down some players with his constant bitching. Who knows where we go from here but this may be a lost year and we likely will lose atleast Porier maybe more..can he bring on the right reinforcements? We need some veteran transfers.
I think he lost the locker room.
His style wasnt working with the new egos.
Barr has great potential but this season brings to light that he just needs to develop more as a head coach. He can do it, has a good hockey mind just a bit clumbsy being the boss.

Over the last 20 years Maine hockey is 14-31-2 against Providence! There was a stretch where Maine had 15 consecutive losses against Providence (2014 - 2019). Former Maine volunteer assistant and Old Town High School assistant coach knows how to coach and recruit.

In rewatching the tying goal from last night....I'm absolutely blaming Holt for this loss. When the puck was dumped back in....he had at least a couple of steps on the Providence player to get to the puck and whack it out.....he sauntered lazily to the puck while the Providence player went full steam and got the puck......then Holt falls in front of Rousseau and didn't even attempt to get up while screening Rousseau from having any chance at a save.....it was right up there with the most pathetic few seconds of Maine hockey I've ever seen.
I think he was gased.
I started to see the whole team looking/playing tired mid 3rd period and i said to my wife that i bet providence ties it up.
Bad decisions come with being gased.

I said it during the game also. They gave it all they had. Once again we have a team with little offense and no PP

This was at the end of the game. Holt was called offsides with about a minute or two left and it wasn't even close. He was onside by a foot and they said the puck went out of the zone. Not to mention the Scholle face off violation in the beginning of the game which was not anything of the sort and Barr was losing his mind
I'd have to watch it back, I don't recall such a controversial play. I remember the one on the too many, then the one near the end of the game that the poke check on the attempted break away that brought the play offside.

I think that one they actually called a hand pass, not offsides. Was close but they probably got it right. It would have been an egregious offsides call.

I'm scratching my head right now after reading the sob-fest over last night's game. (If anyone needs a case of Kleenex, let me know.)

The reality of the situation is this: Maine played it's way out of an AL bid quite a while ago. You can't shit the bed vs. UNH and VT and expect one, am I right? The margins are razor-thin this season.

I watched the PC game again, and Maine played pretty GD well against a better team.

Sure, Holt was (literally) on the ice when the tying goal had eyes, but he's been "our" best D-man for a while now, and he looked to me to be trying taking away the low shot when he was already on his ass with 00:05 on the clock. Didn't work out, but it wasn't a bad idea.

And it amazes me that people are calling for Barr's head, and comparing his regime to Red's..? That's fucking ridiculous. Barr has pulled this program out of the shitter that Red dumped it in. Christ almighty.

Maine can beat anyone in HE. Maine has a legit shot to win the HE tournament. That's what we have left to hang our hats on.

And that certainly can happen.

Who the fuck is calling for Barr's head? God forbid we as fans question King Barr. Gimme a break. Most of us wrote off an at-large bid before the PC game. I think the problem is these late game meltdowns at home.....right now it is on repeat. Whatever is going on....it's not working. Teaching? Motivation? Coaching? Recruiting? All of the above? Maine Hockey seems more country club and less blue collar now......this ain't BC or BU.....that is a recipe for failure in Orono.

Man, listening to some on here losing their shit over a young Maine team is discouraging. As mentioned, these guys can likely beat any team in HE at any given moment. The NCAA's are loaded with top end talent this year and to be even mentioned in the top 16 if from HE is quite an accomplishment for any HE team. For me I'll enjoy this ride of a young team that is still fun to watch because they have talent and they work hard. Are results always what we want....hell no, but its gonna be fun to see how far they can go in the HE tournament.
