UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

This program needs to get back to basics. I think that the hype surrounding the new facilities and overall media hype of this team as gotten into their heads....one way or another. And Barr needs to pull up his big boy coaching pants and not make rash personnel decisions like he did tonight. That stuff gets around and suddenly it becomes ever harder to nab top recruits.

See how good of a coach he is in the 3rd

If it hasn’t changed after 15-16 games, I have little confidence that it will in the last 15-16 games. Who is that on? Coaches? Captains? Season is half over… Much like their play, it’ll be a case of too little, too late.

I said to myself last night watching, the longer it went scoreless, the more it favored UNH. A bad turnover by a regular offender sealed their fate.
Worse than “yet to change” - it looks like regression

I think the biggest difference tonight is in net. So the adjustment would be to bench Boija for a couple games then. This is feeling a lot like when Ostman shit the bed and Boija won the starting job. It took a very long time for Boija to start both games on a weekend. Imagine this will be the case if history repeats itself. So I still expect they rotate if they do what they did before. But from my optics Rousseau is outplaying Boija easily enough to warrant full time role without rotation until he shows any weakness. I don’t think Maine has any cushion to be playing around and need to start putting together some wins. We may see Barr get aggressive and start Rousseau for a while. I’m sure Alfie has a big say in it and would be in favor of the player so he would want a rotation. But a head coach’s reputation rides on his win/loss record. So my hope would be to go to Rousseau for a while until either Rousseau falters or Boija shows more confidence in net. Right now he’s very deep, angles are off, trouble tracking the puck, getting beat glove side with whiffs… this adds up to well below goaltending at this level. I am so shocked by this. I feel like someone is playing a joke on us and put Ostman back in Boija’s uniform.

This would be the first sweep at Alfond for New Hampshire since February 8-9, 2008

Was one of those the Van Dyk meltdown? If it was that’s probably the worst Maine game I’ve ever seen. A small caveat would be UNH won that game in OT. Obviously the rules were a lot different then.

I've been wondering lately if the Bennett hire has backfired in some way. I have no evidence for that assertion whatsoever, but with how his tenure ended in Schenectady maybe it wasnt the right move?

Rousseau is in for the third period.

I went looking for a box score and they were both regulation wins. 3-2 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday. No mention of Van Dyk in either box score.

ETA: The OT loss was December 2010
