UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Maine outplayed BC all weekend long, despite the split. Loved "Rooster" tonight. He starts next weekend, no two ways.

But yeah, it's hard to feel good about it until we know that Langlois is OK.

For what little it's worth, I was hit in a very similar angle playing HS football. No such thing as a targeting foul then. I couldn't move for several minutes afterward. It was what they'd call a stinger these days. I hope that's the case tonight, and kudos to both teams' trainers for the speedy response.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I just got back. Looked like an awkward hit where he wasn’t expecting it and maybe had feet tripped up. The sound was loud, he hit so hard. I was happy to see he appeared to lift his arm and move it forward on his own at one point. But he was lifeless before that for a long time. It was scary. I know Freel brought his skates over to the bench. My guess is they had them off to check if he could feel his toes. That is how scary that was. I’m hoping he doesn’t have any lingering issues. I’m thinking he must have at least gotten knocked out and has a concussion from it. Poor Langlois has bad luck for injuries. He’s developing into a great dman, so lets hope he comes out of it ok.

On the game, I felt very comfortable with Rousseau. He seems very technically sound and I think he should split weekends with Boija going forward. This will push Boija to get better.

I thought Maine played solid defensively and on offense just got pucks low and cycled well. They had some good fortune and pounced on pucks and buried them. Could have buried another one easily on a rush where Poirier appeared to miss high on a half empty net. Not like him to miss out on a chance like that. Nadeau had a breakaway and was close to burying another. I mean, this game was a thorough manhandling of BC by Maine. I know at one point half way through I saw Maine had won 73% of face offs.

A split down at Conte against BC is actually pretty solid work. I was disappointed Maine let Vermont get a win at Alfond. However, Maine has taken 3 of 4 games against BC(1-1)and BU(2-0). So that doesn’t usually happen. Last year Maine was 1-2-1 against them.

I think as season goes on they will get more consistency.

Marques is really becoming a dangerous player. He is putting pressure on the opposing goalies. Those moments where you can see the goalies going oh shit. If he continues to develop poise he’s going to make goalies fold in.

Rousseau was on his game last night. Great job...the guy is so freakin quick. Nice bounce back win for the team, very nice. These guys are really starting to gel now. Prayers go out to Langlois for a speedy and full recovery. That was a nasty and really uncalled for hit.

Great win and split after Friday’s meltdown. Praying for Langlois and hoping we get some additional positive updates soon.

I’m usually bummed when this team has weekends off but this team has stressed me to the point that I’m looking forward to it. Everyone have a great thanksgiving!
