UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

During media availability yesterday, coach said Poirier hasn’t skated in a while and hasn’t taken a full practice with the team in a long time. He also didn’t travel with the team last weekend for the Northeastern games.

Has he been shelved? Or legit hurt.

If hurt do we know when it happened? I cant think of a game episode where he might of got hurt.

Maine isn't playing tonight but the two Hockey East games that matter could eliminate the Bears from contention for home ice.

BC @ UMass
Best case: BC wins in regulation keeping UMass within distance on Saturday.
Worst case: UMass wins in regulation, getting to 40 and wrapping up home ice.

UConn @ UNH
Best case: Wildcats pull the upset in regulation and keep the Huskies on 38, within distance on Saturday.
Worst case: UConn clinches home ice just by getting to overtime. Coupled with a UMass win this eliminates the Bears from home ice and relegates Saturday to a fight for fifth with BU.

Go Eagles!
Go Wildcats!

According to Mike McMahon, we are getting jersey patches.

I understand it takes all the money you can find to fund D1 athletics these days, but yuck
Unfortunate, but probably inevitable given the trajectory of, well, everything these days. Hopefully they at least make the patch itself blue on the home jerseys and white on the away, so it fits the color scheme and isn't jarring on the eyes.

Was thinking the same thing. Seems like there will be room opposite HE logo front and maybe middle on back?

If it’s enough to move the needle that’s great, but doubt that will be the case. I’m pretty sure there is a third party who gets a cut of the money and they are the ones driving it.

It is funny how far we've come in regards to logos, compared to the days of Walsh demanding BC forfeit a game because the manufacturer's logos were too big on their pants (for anyone who remembers that incident in the 89/90 season)

Let's hope for a big third period for UNH and BC. Neither doing us any favors at the moment.

Maine is eliminated from top four and home ice or the quarterfinals. The best Maine can hope for is 5th place and a trip to either BC, UMA or UConn. They do hold the tiebreaker against BU, so any tie goes to Maine.
Maine's floor is sixth place and hosting Vermont in the first round.
