UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

What a nail-biter that game turned out to be. I was pacing like an expectant father, chugging Maalox right out of the bottle.

After Ferguson went down, the anxiety set in. As Wally said, Robinson is pretty awful, and has been all year. Furthermore, the coaching staff didn't help him out with its play-calling... If Ferguson isn't ready in 2 weeks, Belcher should get the start, because they are indeed toast if Robinson starts against anybody, as BoSox pointed out. And, I wasn't happy with how Coach H reined the D in with the 14 point lead. Happy he let that pack of junkyard dogs go do what they do at crunch-time.

At the end of the day, though, I'm friggin' DELIGHTED! Big, big props to football for heaping fame and glory on UMaine. Home game in 2 weeks seems likely, if not a mortal lock.

Unbelievable game. No way that game is even close if Ferguson plays. Maine d was beyond anything one could imagine. I thought forward progress should have been the call on the int/fumble.

I tend to agree with the forward-progress thing, but the young man needed to go down immediately and thus secure the win. Another teaching point for Harasymiak. (I had to change my Depends after that play.)

Let's play a solid, hopefully penalty free third and grab a W.

Spot on with Belcher @ QB if Ferguson is unable to play.

Nice win for Maine 3 to 1

Maine still took 8 penalties

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

Well, they won. Honestly thought they played better last night than tonight, but we got what matters.

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

Swayman was terrific tonight.
I think Sasquatch is gonna need a new can (or three) of just for men.. not to mention a cane soon, to run up & down those staircases. ;)

Football grabs a #7 seed and a first round bye. They will play the winner of Jacksonville State and Eastern Tennessee State on December 1.

Scoresheet says 5 min face mask and 10 min game misconduct. Matched with BU Farrance.

I had to look it up myself, but this Jacksonville is in Georgia. (IIRC.)

In any case, JSU is ranked way above ETSU in an "enhanced" RPI I read today, and both teams are rated well below Maine.

That alone doesn't mean dick, but if Ferguson is close to 100%, I could foresee a 1st round win in the Orono chill.

Yes they are from Georgia...and the Selection show spoke highly about them....they also said that Maine had the toughest grouping to be in to make it all the way...but then the game is played on the field and good to see the Bye and a Home game in place. The question now is will the game be attended well..?

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

Georgia or Florida I can see Orono in December being not only a physical issue with southern teams but also a mental one. This has been one brutal November with temps during the day not even close to "average", sometimes 20 degrees below "average". Just that will add another issue for opposing coaches to deal with. I agree Ferguson is the key, without him at close to 100% , Maine doesn't have much of a chance no matter where they play.

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

All three of you are wrong, Jacksonville State University is in Jacksonville, Alabama.
