Yeah, Monty would have been a better pick but he wasn't picked, Red was. Its not not shocking Maine screwed it up. Rumors abound as to why Monty wasn't picked.

How many times has this article been written in last 5 years, Does Larry dust it off and change some of the names?

What is sad is the quote from senior captain saying it is a learning process. A senior and a captain thinks taking less penalties is a learning process. And to trust the process. The process isnt working if a senior and captain says this. In fact our two captains have the most penalties on the team. What has the process taught the leaders of the team? The guys that are to be examples for the younger guys.

To me it seems Red just teaches by punishment and yelling. Not sure that works, it wouldn't for me. I hole the AD is paying attention, our only hope at this point.

“People see that the university is making a strong commitment to the program,” _____________ says. “We’re going to have $56 million dollars in upgrades to our facilities. That speaks volumes about how important the program is to our administration, our leadership, and the board of trustees."

Name that Hockey East school pouring more money into its hockey program than Maine could come up with in three decades.

Connecticut? I know they have plans for an on campus arena so they dont have to trek from Storrs to Hartford for games.

Correct. Another step towards Maine, UVM and Merrimack sitting alone at the poor kids' table.

Talks cheap isnt it

Getting kids to listen must be the expensive part. I couldn't find all coaches salaries, but here are the ones I could find info on. I wonder if the hockey east standings will be correlated to the coaching salaries?

Bazin: 465k
Leamen: 450k
York: 491k
Carvel: 309k
Cavanaugh: 300k
Sneddon: 250k
Gendron: 209k

Brace yourselves as they have begun to say it in print and say changes coming...oh my...back to "Talk is Cheap and Whiskey cost money" Just go out and work, play the game...talk when you have a reason to talk: winning...and that's winning something.

Interesting post.

I'm wondering who's going to win the most games per dollar spent..? I'm guessing Red has a real shot at that one. Hockey East has never been this bad before.

UMass beat Providence last night 3-2. Big win for them this early start of the season.

Its weird how they hire a good coach and they may be no 1 in the country in year 3. Im told it takes 6-8 years to clean up a mess and youre supposed to be patient. So strange.

Absolutely. Its patience based now I guess. Things are gaining and they are working hard and learning every day. (Sarcasim)

Hasnt it been proven time and time again what the difference a coach staff can make. Somehow people think there are other ways to succeed or maybe just plain old hope can help. Or maybe just good enough.

Re: UMaine '18-'19: Back to the Nationals!

No matter what you think of Timmy the “mess” he left was inarguably better than what Micheletto left at UMass. But you know Reds peers think hes awesome and hell turn it around someday so those of us that sit here watching Lowell Providence and UMass pass us by having good coaches are just negative nellies who dont understand how things a work. God it makes me salty.

Agree that this is more or less a mess that should have been ended after his 4 year contract...now they are hooked to this man till some how/some way either the contract ends or the AD can tell the writing on the wall and ends the "retirement tour" and ends the RG era....will it happen soon= NOPE, Maine hockey is on a up/down cycle till the Higher Up's decide to change the mind set and go with a Coach with No ties to this program...different ideas and different style's make for a interesting look some day down the road, that's if the road is still there.

The road is always there. Also, let's at least cheer for the team. RG might not have shown much yet, and I am continuously disappointed. But this team should show its true colors. I can't imagine we play below 5 hundred all year. If so, and I am AD, then we dip into Maine hockey fund and secure top coach and buy red out.

Always rooting for the team...no buy-out will happen...not unless he has 1 year left on his deal down the road...which is a ways away for now.
