I was delighted the Governor was in attendance last night. I am sure UA_ Chancellor Roger was in true form pulling an Eddie Haskell move, buttering him up to get the nod and shoe in to be the next University of Alaska president. But the _airbanks players, coaches, and fans showed their true colors and expect his stock is in freefall after the excellent exhibits of sportsmanship and fans littering the ice with debris. Nice move _airbanks.
I seem to remember after the mascot incident last year hearing UAF tell UAA "that sort of behavior never happens at the Carlson Center."

At least there weren't any local lawyers picking fights with UAA fans this time. Gotta love this rivalry!! I still remember the games years ago in Anchorage where we went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.

Re: UAA @ UA_ It's Never Too Early to Start The Sports Hate

Congratulations to UAA on winning the 2015 Governors Cup and to Mantha on his upcoming WCHA defensive POW award.

Perhaps this season is not a complete loss? Good on Tatchell burying it when Allen was tossed out.

Re: UAA @ UA_ It's Never Too Early to Start The Sports Hate

BOOM! IT'S AN OT WINNER FOR TATCHELL AND THE SEAWOLVES! Pinkie! Do you have a broom to go with the PARTY CANNON?!?

She doesn't, I looked.

Wow. Just wow. Mantha certainly deserves the WCHA defensive player of the week! Solid, solid, solid. Great team D by UAA too. How sweep it is!

Congrats to the ladies Seawolf basketball team for beating the Nooks 87-62!

Not so fast eh? There's two more games. You guys could still win it in a shootout.

Thank you, go to the liquor store and charge a large jug of your choice on my tab, as I will pay the bill when I go in February.

What an unreal **** show this weekend. I'm not even mad about the rivalry part, I'm mad because we got completely dismantled by a team that's dead ****ing last in the WCHA. All the talk about putting the NCAA nonsense behind them and playing out the season rings hollow, and if they meant what they said then it's time for some soul searching.

This is eerily similar to the 2010 series (the water bottle incident) except with the teams reversed. That year it was UAA coming in cocky with a long series winning streak and got methodically piecemealed by a Nanook team on a mission.

But congrats to Anchorage, and I mean it. They came to play.

I wouldn't even say UAA played particularly well this series. They got badly out shot tonight and took a few silly penalties. Last night they capitalized on a couple of PPs but didn't have much else, UAF imploding was the bigger story.

Realistically, they got some timely goals but Mantha flat out stole this series.

They are tied for last right now, but remember the games in hand that UAA has. UAA has lost 10 games, but so has UA_. UAA has a bye next weekend - after it they will have 4 games in hand over Lake Superior State. They are definitely able to move up. Remember when Fairbanks was in the bottom of the standings for most of last season ... and what happened in the second half?

Mantha did steal it, I agree, but many of the shots he faced he saw coming. He didn't have to stand on his head for many of them. Cahill had to make a few that were harder than what Mantha faced, IMO. I wonder why Jones didn't start tonight for the Nanooks?

Not trying to start a fight however what you saw and heard were the the opposite of what I saw.
Mantha "stood on his head" several times and how you can say 48 saves was inferior to whatever the other guy saw begs credibility.
I'll take Mantha every day.
You can have Cahill.
It's a GREAT day to be a Seawolf!

Mantha was great for you guys.

I don't know why we trotted Cahill out there for the first time since November. I asked that same question on the blog, and unless Jones was hurt or otherwise in trouble that move makes no sense to me. I like Cahill and he was a big part of our second half run a year ago, but why on earth would you send a guy out there with two months of rust in what is probably your two biggest home games of the year unless you didn't have a choice (or the choice was to play Keeney, who seems to be third string now).

I didn't mean in any way to diminish what Mantha did in net, he won the game for us - hands down. But he was very confident and he played the angles well, giving UA_ little to shoot at. Our defense played great in front of him as well, and they kept a lot of the shots to the perimeter. It's never as clear watching the game on a computer screen as it is watching it in person, but it just didn't seem like there were that many "oh-my-gosh" types of saves from him last night. I'm probably wrong here. I'm not real happy with the quality of WCHA TV. It was often blurry, the feed kept cutting out, and the camera did a HORRIBLE job of following the puck (that's on UA_).

Suze, Fairbanks and Huntsville are the two WCHA schools with limited bandwidth leaving the arena out to the CDN that pushes the video out for the league. That's why both feeds are sub-HD.

Ended the dump bears season last year and now The Mighty Seawolves swept their sorry butts in their barn to extend the overall won/loss record to what?
What's that?
Can't hear ya Squarebanks.
JJ's win cannon drowns ya out.
