UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

Re: UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

I have to confess that losing the Governor's Cup this year made this season the most disappointing to me in a loooong time. The improve play of the freshmen gives some hope, but the other teams in the WCHA also have some bright spots for next year. The thing that I noticed most about our team this season was that many of the other teams seemed to be in better shape in the third period. I hope the coach makes getting in shape for the next season a high priority.

I would have to agree with this statement. It was Thompson's first year as strength and conditioning coach. I'm sure this is something they will address for next season. Whatever happened to Newans?

info.......cancelled, just an all sports banquet for all sports.
Did Coach cancel it or was it cancelled by "the athletic department"???
Cost savings?
Cancel the $6,000.00 every weekend to run the Sully Jumbotron.

Hard time coming up with a video of season highlights?

Oh come on mmf, the best highlights were the Seawolves beating the dump bears in Fairbanks. :)

Re: UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

Rumors on other threads about teams for the 2015 Kendall.
Nothing prominent on the Seawolf site.
And then again perhaps the process is still in the early stages and nothing has been finalized.
Anyone know when these things become official?

A Nonentity is just attempting to pull your chain, and for some it worked.

Schedule is usually released in April or May. As far as the Kendall goes, I've heard ASU from beat writers on twitter, and someone said AIC was coming up too on another thread.

Edit: I do know that we are playing on halloween again next year at home.

TJ was the guy who held it all together between the old and new coach.
And did a darn fine job of it.
He's a class guy.
Best of luck in whatever he has going!

@OTBPuckWatch: Twin brothers Jonah and Nathan Renouf, freshmen Fwds at Quinnipiac, will be at UAA next season. Prolific scorers in Jr. prior to Qpac (0GP).

I can't find any stats for them with Quinnipiac, did they play this last season? Are they going to have to sit a year for a transfer? Thanks for the heads up.

They were scratched every game last season. Not alot of room for them and that probably would have been the case for them again. They may or may not have 4 years of eligibility left. All depends on the NCAA transfer rule and if this was technically a redshirt year or what. There are cases where players don't have to sit out on the transfer. Happened with another QU transfer this past season to Sacred Heart. He didn't sit out the year. I think it depends on where the player transfers as well. I think Pecknold is ok with the Renouf's transferring to UAA where they could possibly play next year (all depends on the NCAA rules) and not be ok with a transfer to say another ECAC school to play immediately.

The Renoufs are small but talented players who should see lots of playing time with UAA. They were prolific scorers a few years ago in the OJHL.

Talented, but they didn't play one single game? Odd. I hope they are fast, UAA needs SPEED!

If they didn't play in any games then there should be case for not having to sit out a year and still have 4 years.

Interesting pick up though.

Quinnipiac had alot of players in front of them and losing only 2 forwards this year and bringing in at least 3 new ones it was going to be a battle for playing time. I wish them the best of luck.

I definitely agree they should play right away. It's a nice pickup for UAA though.

Thanks TJ for your time at UAA. Always a class guy.

Re: UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

I expect that the transfer situation has to do with whether the original school cuts the player loose. We just saw this with Alex Carpenter at UAH, who couldn't get ice time at Western and had to sit a year after transferring. I believe that a school can release a player of his/her obligation, but I may be completely wrong and should stick to aerospace engineering.
