UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

Re: UAA: Patiently Waiting For Next Season, Every Season...

The concrete for the new floor at Sully is being poured today which means the new C02 system is ready to go. I'll try to arrange something in the next couple of weeks so I can give everyone a good update ... pics, video etc ...

Someone may have mentioned this earlier, but did you guys go NHL size or stay Olympic?

We adhere to the International Ice Hockey Federation standard. 200 x 100.

I am still having a hard time with the color scheme of the Arena. I think adding a Dark Green and Dark Grey would have been way better. But oh well. When this is all done, it will still be a nice arena. Having Golden Gopher colors though is just plain rough.

I plan to withhold judgement until I see the place under full lighting. I hadn't made the Gophers connection mentally but I sure hope it doesn't.

Aces Facebook page has good photos and a nice video of pouring the new floor. No seats in place yet though. I guess I'm meh on the color scheme. As long as they're more comfortable than the previous lawn chairs.

I agree we will have to see how it looks.

It won't take much to be an improvement. I, for one, think it is going to look really awesome. :)

I think it's going to be the same place with a new coat of paint and new furniture. Sure there's new stuff, but you're still in a concrete tomb...

If they can win then that tomb should come to life. Then it won't matter.

Congratulations to Seawolf booster Garrett Stortz on his Bronze Medal golf win at the Special Olympics World Games!

Looks like a young recruit from Anchorage forward Nolan Walker committed to UAA. Doyle says he is a good get! But he is only 16 now.

Sweet, sounds like an upgrade of facilities really helped. I like where this coaching staff is leading the program! Here's the link:

What is the "Pro Skate" that Doyle mentioned? It is anything like the summer elite league that Deano started years ago?

Haider's kid is also playing at a great prep school back east, maybe we'll see him on the roster one of these days. Too bad Kurt won't be there to call the games should that happen.

Looks like one of our Goalie coaches is moving to Mass to better his career. I think that this was a good move for him, just sad to see Mr. Thompson leave the program. But, it is also good to see deserving people move up in their careers.

BTW is the WFSC done with its renovations? I would like to see pics if it is!

Are they using CO2 for refrigerant? It's not DX, is it? Brine, I assume with CO2.

Are you meaning Steve Thompson? He was in charge of strength and conditioning! Players are returning on MONDAY!

Got an email today from UAA saying the Farg reno is still under way and is going very well. Hackett also said there were a pair of "very big announcements" related to UAA hockey coming out in the next few weeks. My guess would be they are announcing a new color guy to pair with David Tuttle, and a new arena announcer. We'll see if I am right soon. :)
