UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I think you missed the most important part...

I found out that the Patty Center is Fairbanks is getting Blue and Gold theater seating for their basketball facilities this summer. This will upgrade the patty center for spectator comforts to help make the center look more like a college basketball arena versus a high school gym. Supposed to be installed in June.

So, UAF is trying their best to recruit and have facilities for all their sports. I really think Keith Hacket might have something up his sleeve for a new UAA on-campus ice arena. And I think this could be built next door to the new basketball facility connected by bridge..

I am just speculating though! :-)

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

According to twitter
Michigan Tech assistant Damon Whitten will be the next coach at Lake Superior State, per sources. Announcement at noon tomorrow.

Congrats Damon.

They’ll only need about 200…… which is about their typical attendance.
They have one item they can’t fix………. Since 1977…..heads up with little Brother
UAA 290……..UA_ 142 Our weak older sister has 169 day until they can even work on the dilemma but I foresee UAA getting 300 before weak big sister gets 150…..
You can’t fix stupid.

Looks like the new tennis facility is a thing of the past. Hopefully things will start to move forward for all of the ice arenas. What is shameful is that the city has already spent $63,000 in parks bond money on the tennis project!

$63,000 a drop in the bucket, chump change....when It's not your money who care's......me. I could go on and on about money spent on crap and then when it didn't fit in ...oh well Lets spend more to fix the screw up. Don't get me started, But Good news

in the budget as far as I can tell
Source Chapter No. HCS CSSB 18(FIN) am H
1 Appropriation General Other
2 Allocations Items Funds Funds
17 Anchorage - Project 80's 37,000,000 37,000,000
18 Deferred and Critical
19 Maintenance (HD 11-27)

Is the 4.4 million that was slated for tennis now going to fix roads, or to fix the project 80's buildings? Do you know?

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I guess the Muni wants to buy the Alaska Club now for the indoor Tennis courts for 6 million. So, does that mean the money comes out of the Sullivan Arena pot?
I thought the city had a budget surplus of 10 million, they can't wait to go to the candy store.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Proposed new rule for next season:

In an effort to reduce stalling tactics, the committee will look to clarify wording related to delaying the game on icings, hand passes, defensive team knocking the net off and shooting the puck from the defensive zone directly out of play, all plays after which the offending team cannot change its players.

The clarification would assess a minor penalty for delay of game to any team that either delays lining up for the ensuing faceoff or tries to “sneak” players on and off the ice as the whistle blows.

Take note Dallas, take note! Wasn't it Beck who was actually trying to hide behind one of his teammates on the bench so it wouldn't be noticed he snuck off the ice (in the UAA playoff game)? :)

UA_ went through stalling tactics every, that's every single time, they iced the puck. The time it took to sort it out and then the refs and linesmen didn't get it right over half the time, gave the guys who had to go back on the ice an extra minute of rest.
It was so blatant that it had to be a part of the game plan by Butter Bean.

Don’t blame Butter Bean. As for myself, I will put that in my playbook for further use and abuse of the rules at the officials expense .

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Da Nanooks been icing the puck against UAA since 1984. Dey are pewssies.
Right along with the refs who fail to call a delay of game even on the second night and umpteenth time it's done.
That's right "done" not "happened". "Happen" is random and no control over. "Done" is on purpose with a known outcome.

Here is an email from Kevin Meyer so I don't think so..

Thank you for your email. As you are probably already aware, the $37 million the legislature originally appropriated to the Municipality of Anchorage for Project 80's deferred and critical maintenance has been released to the city. I hope this will help with the much needed repairs on community facilities.

Regards,

Kevin

What he doesn't say is $4 of $37 went to roads in the turncoat and mayor sneaks neighborhood leaving $33,000,000 for what the original intent was.

Cos West Northern Lights isn't already the best designed, constructed and maintained road in Anchorage.
