UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

UAA has 26 points. NMU can get to 27, but wins for BSU and LSSU put us to tiebreakers. All three teams didn't play the other two teams four times (e.g., UAA only played BSU twice), so you go to the B) tiebreaker, which is conference wins. LSSU wins that one 13-12-11. If you go back to the A) tiebreaker between UAA and BSU, again, they didn't play four times, so you go to conference wins, which goes 12-11 to the Seawolves.

So yes, UAA is in because BSU and LSSU lost last night. I'm glad that you asked, because I'm working on something that will let you know. I needed to consider this, and now I have!

I don't remember a playoff scenario THIS confusing ... ever.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I screwed that up. If UAA is at 26 points, it's 11-13-4. The tie with BSU would go to the C) tiebreaker, W% against teams down the table. UAA really better hope that MSU is the #1 seed, because they went 2-2-0 v. the Mavs against 0-2-0 v. the Bulldogs; the Beavers are 1-3-0 against both squads. Sorry about that. They haven't clinched.

I don't remember a playoff scenario THIS confusing ... ever.

I'll have to consider this, too, sooooo ...

1. NMU ties in Huntsville tonight, 12-14-2 / 26 pts
2. UAA loses to UAF, 11-13-4 / 26 pts
3. BSU beats BG, 11-13-4 / 26 pts
4. LSSU beats FSU, 13-15-0

We've already determined that the A) tiebreaker is out. The B) tiebreaker goes to LSSU, then NMU, and UAA and BSU are then still tied based on; iterating back through the A) tiebreaker doesn't work. Then you go all the way to the C) tiebreaker as listed above.

Ugh, that didn't help. All I know is that Kurt and Bruce both announced that UAA was in. UAA posted it on their Facebook page. Bruce said the info came from USCHO, but where?

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I'm hoping coach puts Williams in in place of VanAllen. Chase is the guy who made the really, REALLY dumb pass to Coty Kunyk right in front of our net. Actually, there were two Nanook players there, and he fed it straight to one of them.

You're liking 37 for VanAllen and DD likes him for Matthews
and I just want to see him play
Gundy or Kamal tonight???
And will GCI have it live???

My bet would be Gundy, but who knows. GCI still lists basketball as being live, so I'm afraid it will be another $8 for America One.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Good to win one tonight, and I'm sorry about the Governors Cup. There's always next year, right? Plus the REAL Cup is next week.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

That loss to Fairbanks in December cost us just about everything. Home ice, Governor's Cup, and possibly a winning season.

It was good, but not good enough.

I'm *ing tired of losing the Governor's Cup in a shootout every *ing time.

A playoff win will help but we're still gonna hear five in a row all *ing year.

That looked like a pee wee shot!!!! Oh well. I am glad for the win, now lets take care of business next week, and move on to Grand Rapids!!!!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Another year, another Governor's Cup loss, but we finished the season with a .500 record in the WCHA! I've never got to experience a sub winning season, barring two losses in the Final Five (if we get there), we will finish with a +.500 record overall!! Also my first time. Sad yet happy day for me.

I feel like you're the young JJ I remember from many years ago. Don't turn into jaded angry JJ. DON'T LOSE YOUR FAITH. AGE GRACEFULLY LIKE SUZE. SUZE SAID SOMETHING REALLY NICE ABOUT THE NANOOKS TWO WEEKS AGO AND I'LL NEVER LET HER FORGET.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Seems that high school basketball trumped the GCI broadcasts to tape delay instead of live from Fairbanks. Will be interesting to see if GCI broadcasts the playoff games next weekend. Seems the WCHA owns both radio and tv rights to the first round series and charges a rights fee....

I survived this long eh!? Come to think of it, pre-2004 I was the fan of some pretty snake-biten albeit decent teams: the Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Vikings, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, UAA Seawolves, and the Hawaii Warriors college football team. I think I'm used to it, three of those teams have won titles since 2004 but there have been some absolutely heart breaking seasons and playoffs before and after 2004. Also I have a pretty upbeat nature, if anybody is qualified to age gracefully in terms of fandom it seems to be me.

If they don't garblegarblegarble. But the series starts Thursday, with a possible game three Saturday. I don't know if I want a game three, especially since there is a very interesting UFC PPV that night.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Gov's cup? Just some trumped up deal because UAF and UAA were in different leagues and some trophy needed to be drummed up to keep the fires lit.
Don't really care, we split with them this year and if coach can get them motivated we can send them home for the year. Much more satisfying. The boys D'd up tonight and skated like they wanted it. Result speaks volume for players and coaching staff.
