Some interesting things from
this article.
Rud's contract is for 3 seasons, with an option for a 4th. The annual salary is less than $200,000. I am sure that is comparable to what Erik Largen makes at UAF.
There are rumors of a potential matchup between Rud's alma mater, Colorado College, and UAA playing a New Years holiday weekend series. However,
Colorado College already released their schedule, and it does not have UAA on there during new years. Either that matchup is still being finalized (exhibition game?), or will start in 27-28.
The athletic director said that the home opener against Denver will likely be played in the Sully.
Rud’s son Max, a junior, recently committed to UAF out of the transfer portal from Minnesota. Rud said Max gets a chance to “create his own life experience” and likely won’t be asked to rethink detouring to UAA.
UAA assistant coaches Chris Kamal, Aaron McPheters and Evan Trupp remain on staff. At this time, Rud said he doesn’t expect that to change. When told Rud’s hiring broke UAA’s hat trick of coaching hire Matts – Matt Thomas, Matt Curley and Matt Shasby – Pont replied, “that wasn’t something I was tracking.”
In addition to facing Denver (at UAA), the Seawolves will be traveling to Michigan and Wisconsin.
Current schedule:
Denver will be playing at UAA on October 2/3
UAA will be playing at Michigan on October 10/11
UAA will be playing at Wisconsin (???)
