UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

After a long absence thought I would post.....Kendall Classic is coming up next week. Coaches luncheon for the classic is at the Firetap Grill, Old Seward and Omalley...... Friday, Oct. 9 at 11:30. Need as many people there as possible....tickets are available at UAA Athletic Office. 786-1250. Would be nice to get 200 people there. Coaches from Michigan, Mercyhurst, _airbanks and Coach Shyiak will be speaking. A new venue for the luncheon along with the new marketing strategy for UAA......Should be a good time....

hope to see you there. And in Wasilla on Friday........

I probably won't make it. I hate driving out so far. We'll look for ya at the game tomorrow night, sounds like all the "regulars" will be there.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

I'll be missing practically every game this year as my current work shift has me working Friday and Saturday nights. I'm hoping for a shift bid soon. :(

Could be worse... at least you guys have the Anchorage Feed.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

JJ, its gonna suck not having you up front with us man. I hope that shift change does happen soon. Less than 24 hours til puck drop.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

unfortunatly there are no games during Christmas Break this year :( maybe I'll have to go to _airbanks for the gov cup or something.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

Awesome game Seawolves!!

While I'm greatly pleased by the outcome, I think there is still quite a bit of work to do in order to compete in the WCHA. Passing and defensive play looked good, but the power play and cleaning up rebounds need a little work. Just my 2 cents but thats what I saw. It was nice to see the physicality increase as the game progressed without pulling unneeded stupid penalties. It also seemed like we got lucky on a few calls but overall we ran most of the game.

Anybody else's thoughts?

Six power play goals, what are going to fix? We didn't have six all season.

We? We??? I knew you were a closet UAA fan!! ;)

I agree, some things can improve, but this was just an exhibition, and there were going to be mistakes. I liked special teams, UAA killed off two 5 on 3 penalties - but they can't take that many penalties against WCHA teams or they will get killed.

The biggest errors I noticed were in passing the puck, and not always knowing where teammates were. One player in particular, who is not a rookie, made way too many errors, but I am not naming names.

What I did love was the passion, even though they were dominating play, they didn't let up at all. That's the kind of drive I want to see every night, and that never say die attitude WILL win games. Congrats Seawolves.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

I was really impressed with Daniel Naslund and Tommy Grant's combo on the PP. Although it was really hard to watch this game and seeing #20 with a different name than Crowder. Was impressed with Gellert though.

Its about time that you came out of the closet! :p

I understand that we got 6 PP goals in an exhibition game, but I don't think that the PP will be nearly as successful against any WCHA/CCHA team. Everybody sees a game differently and I just am not confident that the PP is improved enough to meet some of the teams that we will be facing.

On another note: I sure hope everybody was pleased to see that the Anchorage Daily Rag was able to hide the news of the UAA blowout on the last page of the sports section. Beyond that, the delightful 5 paragraph blurb looked like it was written by reviewing the Box Scores. Can;t wait to see how much press the Aces exhibition game gets....

Sorry no closet seapuppy fan here. Just stating facts, nanooks should of deferred power play opportunities last year, we played better short handed than on the power play. Hope we see some improvement this year, but it can't get worse, can it?

hey just on a side note, did anyone notice that the refs & linesman had numbers instead of their names on their backs last night?

I did notice this little tidbit. Although I couldn't remember if that was usually the case for exhibition games since the officials are always local guys. If that's the case, maybe they do that because their local guys. I'm not sure, though it would be interesting to know if any of the other teams had similar circumstances.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

They had their names up here.

One of them was Moran. I remember an Ice Dogs game a few years back where the linesmen were Moran and Dumas.. As I'm sure you can imagine, the ref-hecklers had fun with that one.

Hey Seawolves fans,

Just wanted to stop by and wish your team good fortune in the season. From what I have read, could be a break-out type of year for UAA - I sure hope so. Stand tall and dont be afraid of facing off woth the 'proverbial powers'. I think that the WCHA is a lot tighter than most believe, and it will be another nail biter of a season. SO, aside from when tDogs and UAA play, Ill be pulling for y'all. Take care...

Hey there Stev, thanks for the nice comment, and well wishes. I certainly hope this will be a season to remember! ;)

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

my prediction is that 4-9 in the WCHA is decided by less than 6 points, if Bryce doesn't let the softies in and we get a few more bounces, we'll be right there.

Re: UAA 2009-2010 Season Thread

Is anybody els as excited as i am to see the UAA-Michigan game? If we beat the favorite team to win the CCHA I think we can make some noise in the college hockey world right at the get go

Notre Dame is one of the most talented teams in the country with DU, so don't put too much into Michigan being the best team in the CCHA, but they are very talented, big and fast, so UAA-Michigan will be fun to watch.
