Is that the norm, sounds like some movie theater ****.

Something is terribly wrong with this! Outrageous costs to rent the Sully. SMG gets most of the ticket sales and all of the parking and concessions sales. Too bad Cobb screwed UAA by not putting ice in the AAC.

Re: UAA `16-17 Let's end this thing with a BANG

Here's the brick into this line of thinking: Every single one of those games UAA played was in Alaska. 6 at home, 2 in Fairbanks. Good run, but it doesn't mean much with them facing a ton of road games.

True, but we've only played 2 of those 6 against teams below us. UA_ is at 7th, BSU at 1, FSU at 6th. LOL truly grasping at straws now. MTU is gonna be tough, but we got NMU after them. When MTU was here goals for the weekend were 3-4 in favor of them, while again it was at home we were also in our slump at home. NMU took the lead in goals also at 6-7, but two of there goals were late in the third Saturday night which we can improve upon. Then we got MSU, who is having a down year so who knows what's gonna happen. Finally we got LSSU and UA_. My predictions:

MTU: Friday night success yet again, plus they've lost 7 of their 9 on the first games of the week, 6 of those being a friday night. Split
NMU: Their last two wins have come on a Saturday...Split
MSU: Travel is gonna be hectic for them...Slight edge for them due to a shootout involved
LSSU: 4 of their 6 WCHA wins came early...Split (bonus fact: we've split every weekend since playing them in the nWCHA)
UA_: We've crapped the bed so many times at home, we are due some wins...Hello a shootout win (also due) and hello Governor's Cup (also due)

God ****it I believe in the law of averages!

Would essentially splitting every weekend give us enough points for the playoffs? I have no ****ing idea. Twisted part is we play the three teams who are the most crucial out of the five series left; UA_, LSSU and NMU. Would not be surprised if the 8th and 9th teams go through some tie-breakers.

I haven't done a bunch of simulations to figure out where the cut line will generally be for 4/5 and 8/9, but I think that splitting out, given who you play, would help. Sweeping either LSSU or that team you hate would go a long way.

He had it in the plans, then your Valley trash neighbor Brawling Bristol's Mom screwed us out of it not Dr. Cobb.

We will never agree on this. The fact is he told numerous people he didn't want ice in the AAC, and he never fought for it either.

Re: UAA `16-17 Let's end this thing with a BANG

The reason why Dr. Cobb didn't want Ice at the AAC was because he always had it that the University would build a SEPERATE Ice rink for hockey. Even TODAY if you look at the FY19-25 strategic plan, there is 120M planned for an ICE RINK on campus. Does that mean it will happen? Prob not with the Alaska budget current as of today. However, Since UAA Hockey had a decent arena to play in (I use "decent" loosely), and UAA Basketball/Volleyball/Gymnastics had a crappy WFSC, Cobb championed a basketball only facility first. THEN, a hockey arena on campus. I thought he had a very strategic vision to get all our teams to D-1 at the time. I had NUMEROUS conversations with him on this matter and it was a good plan. Originally, the AAC was supposed to be a 4,000 seat arena connected to a 7,500 seat hockey arena situated on the corner of Northern Lights and Bragraw on North Campus. It was planned with Dorms and a Fieldhouse. But, there was huge opposition to this plan from the tree huggers. So, we got what we got. I personally think the AAC is a tremendous facility and will ONE DAY propel all of our sports to D-1. It was just voted the BEST ARENA in D-2, and better than some D-1 arenas. I also personally believe one day we will get a hockey arena on campus. It may be years from now, but will happen. I am hoping (in my lifetime, when the current UA leadership is cleared out) we will see a football program. Not holding my breath, but really hope one day.

The problem with that thinking (of Cobb's) is that it took FOREVER to even get the funding for the AAC. There was not much of a chance that another arena would have been built for hockey as well. And Cobb was on television saying that he felt an updated Sully was a good fit for hockey. They need a place like the one down in Soldotna. 2000-3000 seater.

And you know what?
I don't really care what you think when you come trolling in here.
Take your downer attitude with you.
Bye

Did you even open the link?
It's neither trolling nor "downer attitude".
It's math (a different kind of downer).
It's your teams challenge to beat the odds.

If Nanook fans thought someone else was muscling in on trolling the UAA thread we might get a little upset.

I did not know that Soldotna had a 2000-3000 seat hockey arena!!!!???? Nice!

This is a ridiculous thing to say. Outrageous even. Two years before the AAC got proposed there was a proposal for an arena across N. Lites from East High. You know this. You also know that it had separate permanent ice with 6500+ seats. You also know that Palin line-item-vetoed it. Talking garbage on a dead guy is poor effing form. Shame on you.

You also know Cobb had no real authority. Athletics was/is run by the Dept of Administration ... want to crack on someone ... bash Bill Spindle.

I can't imagine what you'll say about me after I'm dead. Tell ya what, just say it now. You don't have to wait til i'm dead.

When you're in a job with no power ... you have to go along.

He got a building that the BoR didn't want. then.... He got fired to your hearts delight.

I will keep the sully vs. a smaller arena, thanks you. The sully is not that appalling, and if you think it is you need to road trip some of the shacks that the wcha and CCHA leftovers play in. The Sully no park benches unlike most of the new WCHA.

When UAA plays preseason games there the guys love it. It's a great atmosphere. Unless the Aces fold I can't see UAA filling the Sully. A smaller arena would really improve the atmosphere. The Sully is just too big and even when 2000 fans show up it looks empty.
