Two WCHA Turkeys: Michigan Tech at Mankato, November 27-28

Re: Two WCHA Turkeys: Michigan Tech at Mankato, November 27-28

It wasn't much of a game!

On the bright side, Tech did score 2 goals! :D

Re: Two WCHA Turkeys: Michigan Tech at Mankato, November 27-28

No offense, but I'm going to "go there"... Tech looked far inferior Friday night. Unless I see something different tonight, they are clearly the worst team in the WCHA this year.

I've always liked the small, hockey town concept that is Houghton... So I don't necessarily like to bust their balls - but yuck!

Mavs played well when they needed to. Great production from their veterans. I'm going to assume it was complacency and not fatigue that had them coasting the second half of the game. They could sure use a couple more point tonight too!

This is what Russell needs to do to the team in practice:

Completely disgusted with the effort last night. This team needs a Mike Batovanja force. This team needs someone to light a fire under their asses! I feel particularly bad for people like Yager who drive 12 hours to watch this crap.

Also, some bimbo at the bar tried to make off with my jersey last night. She's lucky I didn't drag her *** outside and beat the crap out of her. Seeing someone try to steal my jersey made me more ****ed than I've been in a long time.

Being a Tech fan is like being a battered housewife.

Every weekend he comes home, gets drunk, beats you, embarrasses you, and leaves you with a black eye. Yet, you just accept it. You don't just up and leave because you wouldn't know life without him, and you hope in vain he'll get better.

*curls up in corner with gallon of chocolate ice cream and watches Lifetime*

Ok, unless she's a 3-year-old who is two feet tall......what you are threatening would never happen. :p

Yeah... So I apparently cannot sleep through snoring, therefore I am balls tired today. Yager's staying with you guys tonight ok?? :p

Don't bring your jersey to the bar ;)

Re: Two WCHA Turkeys: Michigan Tech at Mankato, November 27-28

If they lose as bad as they did last night they should have some honor and just commit seppuku because that would be very shameful.

I can deal with losing, but not when we play like 5hit. They are a better team than that and it is just embarrassing.

That's what the booze are for, so you can sleep through my snoring. But you didn't drink and now you suffer.

Re: Two WCHA Turkeys: Michigan Tech at Mankato, November 27-28

So Tech probably deserved a little better after playing pretty well in the 2nd and 3rd tonight, but you can't consistently go down 2-0 and expect to win. That said, the ref's definitely stole a completely legit goal from MTU with a quick whistle. Not a big deal at 3-0, but when the final ends up being 3-2, it's pretty bad.

I was able to watch the game on TV tonight, but not comment on it at USCHO while in progress. I absolutely agree that Tech got jobbed on another "intent to blow the whistle" review by a WCHA "referee." The Maverick television team was surprised as well. I wasn't sure what the hell reasoning they could have for not allowing that one

However, I am very pleased with the Mavericks in getting all 4 WCHA points for a change. Big weekend coming up with the Gophers. The Mavs finally broke through against the U last year. This year, the Maroon and Gold are struggling. I just hope it is not against the Mavericks when they figure out what their problem is and fix it.

Go Mavs!

You broke through in the playoffs (F5) a couple years back, which created the Club mentioned earlier in my post.

And we're worse this year. Hopefully Kangas Khan and St Pat shut you down. We don't need another Brenthoven Meltdown.

Yes, yes you did. As a Mav fan I will agree that was a crappy call and Tech got hosed.

While I agree that Tech deserved better on that play, it wasn't an "intent to blow the whistle" play. There was a whistle, and it definitely was blown before the puck went over the line. Was it too quick? Maybe. Lee did glove it, which, in most cases, would prompt a ref to blow the whistle. Lee has to clean that stuff up.

My seats have a very good view of the goal at that end. There is no question that the whistle blew before the puck crossed the line.

Now, there should not have been a whistle at all. The ref anticipated that Lee was going to catch that puck and blew the whistle when it hit his glove, and he should not have. It should have been a goal. But it was not an "intent to blow the whistle." The whistle clearly sounded while the puck was still trickling toward the goal line.
