Twin Cities Maternity Hospital Recommendation

Re: Twin Cities Maternity Hospital Recommendation

Was St. Mary's over on Riverside? Fairview University has a couple hospitals. One on the main U campus and one on the West Bank. I had a lithotrypsy done at what I think used to be St. Mary's and is now a Fairview University.
Yes, that's the one. Riverside Ave.

Congratulations <STRIKE>Nathan</STRIKE> Dad!

Any hospital in Eau Claire WI would work for you. You want to start the kid out on the right foot, don't you? ;)

It's why they're moving to the Twin Cities. I really don't think Puck Swami's friends want their kid exposed to the type of element that lives in Wisconsin.

Re: Twin Cities Maternity Hospital Recommendation

Does anyone actually move to Wisconsin?
I know a guy that moved to Wisconsin once. He moved to Hudson, which will likely be annexed by MN shortly, but then he moved back to MN after a two years of losing his way. At the same time, you must understand, this friend is a goalie. Goalies are all a bit, well, off.

Congratualations Nathan!!

Swami, my wife delivered here:

Allina hospitals:
Unity (Fridley)

Health Partners hospitals:
North Memorial (Robbinsdale)

We went with Dr. John Wust at Unity. He was highly recommended to us and we could not have been more happy with him. Due to complications she had to have a cesarian, but they made us feel very confident/comforted at all times. Due to a change in insurance we had to use someone else for our younger son. I don't remember the name at this time, but we had a good experience there as well. Let me know if you want any more details.

Sure. Every delivery room should feature cheap beer, stinky cheese and spoiled brats. :D

Re: Twin Cities Maternity Hospital Recommendation

Children's has a campus in both St. Paul and Minneapolis. They are both supposed to do very well in the maternity department, from what I understand.

Way to highjack the thread, Nathan......and congratulations!

First off, congrats to you Nathan! Get ready for a few sleepless nights, the first couple home are the challenge, but the most exciting!

Swami- I would go with Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis. Technically, I don't believe there's a maternity unit at Children's (at least there wasn't when my young pucksters were born in '03 and '06) but Abbott is directly next door and is affiliated. We had great experiences there and had several friends who are MD's (in outside systems too) tell us the Abbott was the best in MSP. The only drawback is that it can be a haul from the middle to outer ring suburbs, but we live south of the river and still made the drive, went door to door in 23 minutes for our first.

I know Children's in St. Paul delivers as I have a friend who's a nurse there.
