Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

I see AMC is officially splitting the Mad Men finale into two parts, so they can milk it dry - 7 episodes in 2014, and 7 episodes in 2015. This trend is getting really old, really fast.

I don't mind them doing that, BUT don't try and label it as one season that is split. Just say it's two seasons.

Ink Master:

Kyle with his Raisin Face was the right choice, but I think Joshua should have been bottom 3, with the crop-photo. It took a LOT away from the pic.

And again: I don't care about backstory. Just ink your tatts, and you'll be fine. I think the "drama" is overshadowing the work this season, and it's annoying.

I get why they're doing it - I think AMC's concern is that with BB almost done and the MM finale now about 20 months out, they still haven't figured out any compelling new dramas to replace either. Thus why they stretched out both finales, to buy time to find their next big show. The Walking Dead certainly isn't going to be "it". :p

Nor is "Low Winter Sun" no matter how hard they ram it down our throats. I can't see "Better Call Saul" putting up BB type numbers.

Breaking Bad didn't put up these big numbers until recently. That's one of the reasons AMC played around with the final season. If it had been pulling these numbers right along, this wouldn't be the last season.

I'd agree with all of that. It seems like the producers went out of their way to find people with pre-built reasons to fail. It's time for them to all just get to work and out-trick the others.

Yes.

First world problems, but it's still annoying.

Just discovered THE NEWSROOM on HBO...

Normally I'm not the type of person who takes to "intellectual" series like this, but I'm really enjoying it... Characters mesh very well... Also like their quirks... Gonna have to catch up to the rest of the series through ON DEMAND and start taking in episodes on Sundays...

Who will be cast to play Johnny?

Here's Johnny!

NBC announced it is making a miniseries about legendary late-night TV host Johnny Carson.

The series, based off of the upcoming book “Carson the Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait” by Bill Zehme, will focus on Carson's background and his time in the spotlight.

According to press release from the network: "The project will cover Carson’s legendary 30-year run (1962-92) as host of 'The Tonight Show,' as well as his childhood growing up in Nebraska, his often secluded off-camera life and friendships he made throughout his career as one of the most beloved TV personalities of all time.

Casting for the role of Carson is expected to begin soon.

Season 2 just ended. The two seasons are very different. Season 2 moves into a non-linear storyline and the impact of "Operation Genoa", which upset a number of people. I've liked the the show, both seasons, because despite the change to narrative and already having completed a season, they're still able to develop the characters. Some of the plot points are completely ridiculous, as in how they get many of their news tips, but the show is still a lot of fun for me.

I hadn't realized that the season had just ended... I guess I have everything available ON DEMAND then... At least there is no rush to catch up...

I'm a couple of episodes into the 2nd season, so I'm starting to see what you are talking about with the timeline... Just finished the episode where Maggie tells her story about Africa to the lawyers... I think she had the red hair in the Season 2 premiere, so I'm trying to piece together the timeline of everything...

I hear ya on the way the news stories come about... I think alot of that is that ACN is a made up cable network... They seem to want to keep things fairly real, so they don't want to have ACN breaking some sort of monumental news story... Some of the "tips" are more than "generous" however... I just saw that with the Occupy Wall Street girl knowing someone who collaborates the Genoa story... For me, the "news" is secondary... It's an occasional satire or comedy relief for the most part... It aids in character development, but it's not the main focus for everything...

This season was excellent. And I just love Aaron Sorkin's way with dialogue, and the way he has his characters talk over one another.

That said, I have never seen Sports Night. I should fix that one of these days.

Her interview with the lawyer in the premiere takes place in late September/early October 2012. The Africa trip takes place about 11 months prior, but she doesn't cut her hair until after she's been back in NYC for a good 10-11 months.

Season 2 was definitely better than Season 1, but still had a lot of moments that make you want to bang your head against the wall. I definitely get the feeling that this was the last season though.

Talks are underway for a third season. From what I am seeing, it sounds like it will happen.

If it were up to HBO, a 3rd season would be a done deal. The sticking point is getting Aaron Sorkin back, and I think at this point, Sorkin realizes the show isn't that great and is ready to move on to other projects. They'll say he's too busy with various movie projects to do a third season.

The renewal for season 3 was given last week. http://screenrant.com/newsroom-season-3-hbo/

HBO has announced that The Newsroom has been renewed for season 3. This news follows up on a recent message from Daniels – via his Twitter account – in which the actor beat the network to an update on the show’s fate.

Wow. The Bridge continues to deliver. A lesser show *spoilers* would have had them arrive in time to save Gus.

That would have been the easy thing to do. But The Bridge doesn't take the easy way.

And Nick Cave!!

And the way they tied Sonya and Marco's earlier conversation into the resolution on the bridge was fantastically done.

Anyone stick with Siberia the whole way through? Just caught up on the final three episodes

It was pretty meh through most of it, the 'reality-show' infighting and backstabbing was just boring, but once they discovered the research station, it started getting sort of interesting. And ended on a pretty neat cliff-hanger.
