Anyone watching Drunk History on Comedy Central? My wife came across this post about it on Grantland and it sounds like a fun concept, so I think we're going to give it a shot (especially since there's nothing else on in the summer).

I watch it and enjoy it. It started as a short on funny or die. I think its definitely a show where you will either hate it or enjoy it.

Most people gave up on it. The pace was incredibly slow. The number of false positives were excessive. It was originally supposed to be one season and they streeeeeeeeeetched it out to make it two. I watched all the way through but was turned off by the ending. The twist involving the aunt was unique but why nothing happened to anyone else was mystifying and the new mayor becoming jaded and corrupt was a very disappointing end. It had a lot of potential but never met it IMO. Not bothering with the new season.

Having thought about the pace thing it may just be that this is way better suited to watch all at once, having to wait so long for each episode I could see making the pace really slow, but watching both seasons a couple episodes a night it didnt feel slow at all. Started season 3 now and not at all disappointed so far. And there are plenty of killings this time.

The bad news is Netflix pulled the Big Bang Theory off its streaming site :(
The good news is they just added season 5.1 of Breaking Bad! :) :) :)

Fourth episode of The Bridge the other night was excellent.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

While James made the ultimate correct decisions in A) Not tattooing the client and B) Not tattooing himself just for a shot at the money; matter of integrity in that case (he didn't want a Phoenix tatt), his bedside manner/past tatts led to the correct decision of the judges. This was...quite a shocker of an episode. I'm pretty happy that Tatu Baby got called out. She needed to be. She didn't finish. However, she DID meet the requirements of the challenge, and I think that simple fact was what saved her.

Matty was no surprise. Consistently at the bottom, no argument.
I just watched the episode online, and I would have been in awe for all the wrong reasons had James stayed. With Maddie gone, there wasn't a clear favorite for elimination going into the phoenix tattoo. After seeing the results of the work, though, I'd say that Chris and Ally are strong candidates for going home next time. Chris has yet to impress and Ally's tattoo this week was really bad. Kyle's new school work (I think it was Kyle) wasn't bad at the execution of the work, but the design killed it. Those embers really did look like Hawaii.

Less than an hour away from finding out who the 12th Doctor will be.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Hell on Wheels is back next week. I figured this one was done.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

So Peter Capaldi who played PR man Malcolm Tucker in the BBC series The Thick of It will be the 12th Doctor. Thoughts?

I remember the series looked intriguing, didn't start watching it, and totally forgot about it. I think that may say something about how interesting the show would be to me, as I haven't really heard anything about the series since it started.

So, just watched MEGALODON on Discovery to kick off Shark Week... At the end of the show, there was a disclaimer on the screen.... And I want to know what it said... That whole show just seemed a bit too over-dramatic... Anyone with a DVR wanna help me out?

Don't have the disclaimer text handy, but safe bet is it was all made up in the same fashion the shows on mermaids were. They hid the disclaimer on those quite well and all sorts of people thought they were real.

Most likely. It definitely had the same feel as the mermaids ones did.

I've watched it from the start, it isn't bad.

None of the institutions or agencies that appear in the film are affiliated with it in any way, nor have approved its contents. Though certain events and characters in this film have been dramatized, sightings of "Submarine" continue to this day. Megalodon was a real shark. Legends of giant sharks persist all over the world. There is still debate about what they might be.

As one person said, "Discovery didn't catfish viewers, they megalodoned them"

Since all the previous 11 Doctors have been great, it either speaks well to the BBC's ability to make choices, or my own low standards. I think he'll be fine. I'm kind of amused at the whole thing about the Doctor being a woman. I'm thinking that had more to do with the David Tennant fangirls losing their **** and less to do with Nerd Lawyers who try to project "rules" on a series that has very little.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Finally watched this week's Ink Master. Of course it was bar codes and Celtic designs, which are two of my four tatts.

Lovin' Craig right now. He is nailing it. Tatu Baby is somehow staying in the middle of the pack. Ally....I wouldn't let near me with a needle. Good decision. I would've given the nod to Joey over Joshua, because of color for starters.

Anyway, examining my own tatts, my bar code should have been bigger, and I fault 50/50 (due to my body frame). The artist (not my current artist) didn't suggest bigger, and I didn't ask for bigger. I chose the size.

The Celtic cross, with Ireland's colors incorporated.....my artist (current artist)...he nailed it. There are a couple lines that don't match up completely, but you really really have to look. I'd say he would score in the top third (at worst) in the competition. Given his studio experience (2 years, IIRC)...that's amazing. For the record...IIRC he did home tatts for 2-3 years beforehand. I've said it before, when his experience reaches 10, 15 years? It's friggin' scary how good he could be.

Craig has his head on right. He knows he has the talent, and he's kept his mouth shut for the most part - clearly Josh is getting on his nerves.

As for Tatu Baby, I think she's got to get out of her head. She did better last year when the spotlight wasn't on her. Right now, every other artist knows what she can do, the judges know what she can do, and it has her rattled. She was much more comfortable last year as just one of the other artists and staying out of the fray while doing her work.

Good call getting Ally off the show. She just doesn't have what's needed to stay in. Chris is gone next, he's been doing sub-par work but getting by because of lesser artists that have needed to go first.
