No, I've not read the books. While I want to read them, I'm going to wait until at least this season of the show has aired.
Then you are in for a treat. From how I understand they are using the source material for seasons 3 and 4, I might advise waiting until after season 4.

Ok.... I have a really dumb question. I have watched Psych for several years now. We all know Shawn is a fraud (in the sense he does not have Psychic powers) and is just a great detective with amazing observation skills. Why would Jules be ****ed off at that realization????

Oh, and the Americans, that was a really meh episode for me. While it was clearly all for setting up next week's show, it just lacked anything interesting unto itself.

I agree. Nothing huge happened. Just kind of created a couple dead ends for the FBI. I don't mind, I suppose; not EVERY episode has to be OMGBBQ.

Hard to say. It'd be almost like killing a golden goose, don't you think?

My guess is that they just finish the series with what GRRM told them in case he dies. Then we have to wait and see if he does the same thing in the book.

I've read some interviews with the directors and actors. Sean Bean sort of gave some stuff away in an early interview season 1. But apparently Martin told the show's writers the biggest question in the books - which if you've read them you've likely picked up on - but which the show really hasn't revealed at all. So if you haven't read the books but watched the show, you really likely have no idea the central question of the books...which makes me wonder how the storyline will come out on tv.

And for those of you who've read and know what I'm referring to - apparently the clues are all in Book 1, as one of the editors was able to correctly guess after reading just book 1.

And switching shows - I really, really hope this rumor comes true

Seeing Kristy Swanson on Psych, she did not keep her looks. She's hardly ugly, but she's not anything near what she once was.

Last time I saw her, she was in some SyFy movie, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Because he has been lying to her for 7 years? If you remember when she was dating Deklan who was the fake profiler he admitted he was a fraud and she liked him more. Shawn never did that and has been now with her for 2 years lying to her every day. He is lucky she didnt shoot him.

I wonder if they will let this stick...

I think it is awesome that James Roday and Maggie Lawson have been a couple since before the show started and are still together now :)

I'm guessing that maybe that question will start to come out via Jojen and Meera and Bran's storyline. They haven't started answering it in the books, but it's the elephant in the room with them, given their fathers' history.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but was last week's episode the first time that they actually referred to the Tower of Joy in the show?

I don't remember specifically if it had been mentioned before last week (haven't seen last week either) but I know Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark talked about Lyanna and everything when Baratheon visits Winterfell to ask Stark to be the Hand of the King. I'd have to rewatch to know if they directly mention the Tower of Joy.

That scene is on youtube, I think.

I didn't think they did. But it makes sense if Jojen and Meera start explaining it now. Problem with the books is, so much of the info came from Ned's POV chapters in the book, its hard to work those into the show, and now of course with Ned gone it can't come back in that way.

Tower of Joy? When was this mentioned in the show, I must have missed it.

Curious to know the reactions from non-book readers to last night's Game of Thrones.

I'm still 2 episodes behind....

and for the record, I have no idea what this Tower of Joy stuff you guys are talking about is. I didn't read the books, and I have no idea what you're talking about from just watching the first 2 seasons and the the first 2 episodes of season 3.

I think that seems to be a huge problem with the adaptation, and really my only complaint of the series (well that and some of the gratuitous sex): despite all the expository dialog in the series, there is a shocking lack of detail on some of the most important parts of the backstory.

That said, the books haven't done much with that information, other than to suggest some mysterious unanswered questions, so I suppose it's not the biggest loss if it's pushed aside in the show. It just might make some stuff a little harder to adapt later on.

The ending to last night's GoT was a real shocker. I never expected anything like that outcome. When Jamie Lannister was attempting to seduce his captor, I really thought the outcome would be much different. What really capped the end, though, was the abrupt ending and music used. Also, I recognized the song from earlier, but it took a few moments to catch on due to the completely new arrangement.

I'm also curious about Tyrion's situation with Little Finger in regards to the coins. Something has to come of that, it's not simply a situation of the squire having a Hedgehog's gift.

The bits with the Small Council's seating arrangement to start the episode was at once hilarious and very telling.

I'm willing to wager than Khalese's payment will return to her within an episode or two, and she probably planned it that way.

As for the Wild Men and finding the burial site, I'm wondering if they came across a burial site with some departures or if fires were set elsewhere away from the horses.

To the Night's Watch, only bad things can come of their lodging arrangements. Someone important will die soon from it, and I don't know on which side.

As a result of all of this, that was an excellent episode. It covered a great many things, and didn't dawdle on these things to accomplish them. An excellent bit of story telling there.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

yeah, the way she confirmed the mercenaries would do anything makes me think her first order of business might be sacking that city and having all 3 dragons when she leaves. Obviously I haven't read the books, this could be completely wrong but they put so much out there it became apparent she had another plan than leaving a dragon and going on her way.

I too was surprised at the final scene but liked it, very Sopranos of them.

As for the song, somebody could start a medieval Dropkick Murphys and play old chants etc at fever pitch ... although the mosh pit could get a little scary

Oh, I'm sure there's some misdirection being applied.
