No it is completely different...for once Hank makes the right decision. Of course the wrong decision was sort of like only winning $2 million dollars in the lottery ;)
I would have wronged that decision all night long.

That would be a mistake.

Who the hell was that Julliard girl (Scarlet wondered the same thing on the tweeter machine)? Talk about coming out of nowhere. Quite the MacGuffin.
She was new. Definitely out of nowhere, wonder if she'll be back or just be there to justify January Jones dyeing her hair.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Thought the first episode of game of Thrones was kinda meh, a lot of setup with nothing really exciting going on except for the scenes with Tyrion. But the second episode was brilliant. Anytime we get a lot of Jaime Lannister and Brienne it's gonna be a great episode. The repartee between those two is wonderful. You can tell that no matter how much Jaime insults her, he really likes her a lot, not romantically, but he respects her for being a woman who's a good swordsman, and he respects her loyalty and moral code. You could imagine if things were different that they'd be hanging together, comrades in arms. And their scenes have you actually liking Jaime.

I know it's just me, but anytime the scene switches to Danaerys and her dragons, I kinda tune out. So far it's just the least compelling and interesting of the stories. Just kinda boring, and I think a lot of it is she's just not a good actress. One of the reasons why this episode was so good was she wasn't in it.

Previously I've found the Danaerys storyline frustrating because she's sort of off in her own world away from all the other characters. With Barristan now joining her in Astapor, though, we're seeing the start of (sorry if this is a book spoiler but it's so obviously going to happen that I don't even feel the need to spoiler tag it) her storyline becoming more closely connected with the Westeros storylines. That IMO makes her storyline more interesting. (That being said, I'd still rather be watching Jon or Bran or Arya.)

(Or, even better, a comedy spinoff starring Tormund Giantsbane, the Greatjon and Shagga Son Of Dolph.)

I don't mind the Danaerys story line because it's a slow burn, building up to something huge. I'd like to see more of Tyrion, Bran's travels, and what's going on north of the Wall.

How about a spinoff of Bronn's fledgling career as a singer of soft groovin' Motown songs?

I'd settle for watching his adventures with the harlots.

Really, it's ALL a slow burn. I have no idea how they're going to get the five books printed so far into 6-7 seasons, let alone two more books that are hopefully forthcoming before GRRM keels over.

My theory: he'll get number 6 out with maybe a year to spare, but book 7 isn't coming until a few years after the series ends.

You're probably right, but when book 7 comes out the TV series has to come off the shelf, no?

Hard to say. It'd be almost like killing a golden goose, don't you think?

My guess is that they just finish the series with what GRRM told them in case he dies. Then we have to wait and see if he does the same thing in the book.

Psych: Great endingI figured Shawn would eventually blow it with Jules.

Yeah, I get that all of GoT has that slow burn aspect to it, but there are things to get you going with story lines outside of Danaerys' line. Ever since the Khal died, the biggest thing to happen to her is her dragons went missing for an episode and she killed her really hot hand maiden. Other plots have had interruptions that get you more curious. The only curiosity the Khalese creates is when will she get to Westeros and unleash her dragons upon the usurpers? Given that there are five known books, with the possibility of two more, it makes her storyline the REALLY slow burn.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Oh, and the Americans, that was a really meh episode for me. While it was clearly all for setting up next week's show, it just lacked anything interesting unto itself.

Not sure if you've read the books, or if you want that part of the story spoiled. In short, yeah, there's a very interesting comment I could be making about Dany's storyline in the books that have been released so far.

Spoiler alert: She stays pretty much where she is for the next three books and doesn't leave until the very end of the fifth book. Even then, it's only to the Dothraki sea where she stumbles upon a Khalasar. She might maybe be making her move in book six. But other than that, nothing interesting is happening to her for LONG time on this show.

No, I've not read the books. While I want to read them, I'm going to wait until at least this season of the show has aired.
