Up to ep 5 of Stranger Things S2. Wow -- it's great. Hooper is an idiot. ;-)

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Dr. Mrs. is watching The Mindy Show right next to me.

I want one of the three of us dead. Not particular which.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Guess I'm glad I've never heard of the Mindy show

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

NEtflix just dropped trailer for Black Mirror season 4! Hoo boy

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Just got done with Stranger Things S2 episode 7, and thank you all for the warning. Had I not known what utterly dreadful crap it was ahead of time I might have had a heart attack.

No spoilers till the end of the series, please, but wow, the inside story of how that flaming paper bag of poo got made is going to be interesting someday.

I'm not sure a good show has ever insulted its viewers worse.

The good thing is that they seemed to realize the mistake and get back down to business.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

I still say the first half of the season was rather boring and lame. The second half was dang good though.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Finished Stranger Things 2. The ending was OK. S2 was fine. B. S1 was a solid A.

Here is my theory about S2.7:

1. It was a trial balloon for a spin-off. Hopefully the entire world reacted the way we do. It was pure pandering sh-t. They tried to peddle a stupid people show on the coat tails of a smart people show. That does not work and it insults the audience of the established show.

In addition,

2. It was a bottle episode. By some series of f-ckups they overran budget and had to cut spending for one episode, so they cut almost all the cast.

My only alternative theory is that somebody is f-cking somebody and the writing / direction of that episode was the price.

I'm 3 episodes into American Vandal. It's brilliant. A lethal takedown of the pretense and manipulation of Concern Viewing in general and true crime documentaries (The Jinx, Making a Murderer, etc) in particular. The tiniest touches are perfect from camera pans, interspersed graphics, pacing, outlining, to the introduction of new characters and revelations.

If you like shows that take a pin and pop a big ol' balloon, this one is for you.

More to the point it is incredibly funny and entertaining.

I've heard it's hilarious. I have to admit, looking at the summary, I thought it might have been a real case. Whoops. :o

It's just done so well. It is a perfect f-ck you to an entire overwrought, self-important, and highly formulaic industry. It's so well made and on point I seriously wonder whether people doing the actual work on the show (techs, camera, script writers) have worked the target shows too and are venting their rage spectacularly.

I had this thought too....

I have been following the main character on youtube for some time (I found his fratboy parodies kind of funny and I do not really unsubscribe from people on youtube) and it is nice seeing him get some legit parts. He writes all his own stuff and plays "his part" well (that is, dumb fratboy). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Tatro

If you dont like it I get it...but the Vegas episode and the Reporter episode are aces even if you hate all the rest of it :)

Vegas with Some Radish was awesome. I really loved the last 10 minutes of that episode. But the crazy antics of that episode were also some of the better in the series.

I feel like we gained some depth to a number of key characters in that episode.
