I understood that fully.
That line of reasoning is precisely what I have an issue with.
It matters not if it was a "one time thing" or 30 years ago.
You don't get to take back assault and the victim has to live with the "one time thing" for the rest of their life.
ST 2.2 was a good character/relationship building episode. A little formulaic but it's early days.
It was good...but I dunno something definitely seems a bit off early this season. Cant quite put my finger on it.
And that is your opinion and you are allowed to have it. What you arent allowed to do is accuse others of condoning and excusing activity when they did no such thing. Just because you interpret anything less than your opinion as condoning doesnt mean in the real world they are actually doing it.
Just wait for it...I'm through episode 6 and it definitely hits its stride again.
Kennedy rules?
Brent - If a coach, priest or a teacher can't get a free pass, neither can an actor. There must be one standard.
We need to be sure the allegation(s) are true. Witchhunts are famous for collecting the innocent as well as the guilty.
What IS surprising is that nobody has sued for $$$$$.
Just wait for it...I'm through episode 6 and it definitely hits its stride again.
It got stronger as it went on, except for ep 7 in my opinion
That's the other part. Spacey didn't exactly deny nor admit it happened. Add to that, how many years ago it was, and who knows? I'm still guessing it happened, but that's just it: a guess.
You remember everything you did at a drunken party on say, this day, 30 years ago?
Yeah, it probably happened. Yeah, being drunk was probably a factor in why it happened. From what I've read, he didn't rape or molest Rapp, he just tried putting the moves on him, and was rejected. If it's not a repeatable pattern of behavior, with far worse consequences, I'm not gonna be the one who says it should ruin Spacey's career.
You and I are on the same page. I think you said it much better than I did.
Of course, coaches, teachers, and priests inherently have an authoritarian role over kids that actors, athletes, your average joe on the street do not. There's definitely a legitimate reason for treating them harsher.
In Hollywood the A list and producers ARE the authoritarian figures. careers haved been buried when they've been crossed.
IIRC, some of those cases (although not all of them) involved minor actors/actresses being taken advantage of by actors who were in their twenties.
And prior to the 20th century, 13 year old girls made damm good wives.
The hemlines have changed now (and they will change again) but it is not historically accurate to teleport a 2017 morality back to 1987. I stumble out of the mists of time from 1987 and I am here to tell you that what you're saying is silly. It's ooky now; it wasn't ooky then.
tl; dr: Juliet was 13. Meh, it happens.
