Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

I think the leftovers was hosed. Carrie coon, Justin thereaux should have been nominated, along with the show

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

I haven't seen the latest season of House of Cards, but Evan Rachel Wood was so good in WW. I'll trust your judgement.

Hopkins should smoke the competition in male lead. It was one of the best performances I've ever seen in movie or tv.

I didn't watch Bette and Joan because I couldn't stand the subject matter. I generally despise entertainment industry topics. I did like Reese Witherspoon in BLL, but not enough to give it to her. Kidman was also good, but I just didn't feel she had enough for the Emmy either. The only person I thought surpsssed my expectations was Shaylene Woodley. I thought she was going to be crushed by Kidman and Witherspoon. She held her own.

100% agree on Turturro. Excellent.

I generally don't watch comedies so I'll skip to drama series. It should be Westworld (I can't believe Game of Thrones wasn't nominated since it was the best season of television I've ever seen) but Stranger Things will likely take it.

Comedy blech.

I think you're probably right about The Night Of. It was good. I also enjoyed BLL, but I'm not sure it was elevated to Emmy.

I tried to watch The Immortal and Wizard but neither managed to hold my attention.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Isn't GoT out because it hasn't happened yet? I believe last season was done by the time the 2016 Emmys happened.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Ok, that would make more sense. I forget how long it's really been since GoT was last on.

Westworld for the win. But likely upset by ST. Which any other year might have won it was it not going up against juggernauts like Westworld and GoT.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Just watched the first episode of Snowfall. Looks like it's might be a pretty good story.

Just did a quick google search on it. Looks like it's getting relatively bad reviews. I was looking forward to it. I'll have to check it out on demand.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Got is not eligible due to the late airing.
I agree with an article I just read - if West world wins I'll be ****ed. The leftovers on hbo was much, much better.

At the beginning of the series I would have picked Sarandon. At the end I pick Lange.

It wasn't even nominated though. Among the remaining...?

None. Crown was good, but....haven't seen Saul.
Wapo just ran another headline about the snubbing of the leftovers. I don't usually get mad about these things but they really got screwed

I'll have to watch it. I definitely trust your recommendations.

You really didn't think Westworld was good enough?

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Started watching "Dear White People" on Netflix. It's an okay show, some good points of view are expressed. Am happy that they are covering all angles. So far (watched 5 eps) each ep covers one person in the narrative and their viewpoint.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

The Daily Show bit in which they interviewed foreign translators and what it's like to have to translate Trump for the news was priceless, especially the Syrian saying he basically has to embellish 3% of the time of else he'd come across as an idiot. And that Trump's "special vocabulary" doesn't always exist in other languages.
