TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Still liking Alcatraz. They are leaving enough mystery to watch the next episode. It was bordering on the standard cop drama this week, until the ending. I think very soon they will have to drop a major bombshell though, even if it's not the season finale.
I want to know what was behind that door...

That may be the bombshell the show needs. Depends on what IS behind that door...

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Anyone watch Luck on HBO? I recorded it and started to watch it last night but I was falling asleep so I shut it off. Will try to pick it up tonight. Looking at it one would think it would amazing. It's just a little slow to start. I'll give it a few weeks so I hope it picks up.

What;'s the word on the new season of Spartacus? I've got the first episode taped, but am saving it to watch at a time when I can really sit down and savor it.

I haven't seen it, but my guess would be large quantities of boobs and blood.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I'm kinda almost afraid to watch it, in case it ends up sucking. But even if it does, if it's got boobs and blood, especially in the same scene, it's still gotta be worth watching, right?

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Lost was doomed to have people mad about the ending after people guessed the ending half way through the first season, and the creators denied, denied, denied.
Are you talking about the "they're dead and the island is purgatory" thing? Because they weren't dead at that point, that wasn't until the "flash-sideways" world of the last season.

And the island wasn't purgatory, but that fantasy world "flash sideways" thing was. It's kinda picking nits in the end, but that's how it was.

Spartacus. Meh. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the new guy as Spartacus. Just seems like a different show covering the same ground. Doesn't help that except for Crixus, none of the Spartacus gang are familiar. Lots of boobs and blood though. Maybe even going a little too far with it to compensate.

Quoting myself here because no one replied. I'm watching the second episode now and, well, I can't get into it.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

For the Breaking Bad nerds:

I have a hard time believing it, but evidently Bob Odenkirk does not do any ad libbing for Saul. Honestly, this makes me even more impressed with Breaking Bad's writing staff, because Saul is such a funny character, I was convinced that the reason they hired such a famous comedian/writer to play him was for ad libbing. To think that a writing staff of a show as intense as Breaking Bad comes up with those lines, it's kind of surprising.

The relevant quote from the interview I posted:
Are you shooting the fifth season of Breaking Bad yet?
No -- shooting starts in May, I believe. I usually go and visit the writers' room -- I have not done that yet, but I will soon. So I know nothing. I don't even know if Saul Goodman returns. I'd like to believe he will. But we will see. I never know anything about that show in advance; in fact as the season goes, they black out the scripts, so I literally don't know what is happening in the show, even while I'm doing it.

Are any of Saul's lines ad-libbed?
No. I do what they write, and I do it pretty exactly. You were asking about variety earlier, and honestly I've never had a role that I have approached as formally as I approach Saul Goodman. I learn those lines verbatim and I rehearse a lot. I get really ready for that part. I am purely an actor on that set. It's a challenge and a hoot and a relief all at the same.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I finally saw Sherlock at the behest of one of my friends and it was excellent. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Holmes as a manic type of person. (He's going to the voice of the Necromancer in The Hobbit films.) I think Martin Freeman was a very good Watson. (He'll be Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit.) Any one else seen Sherlock and if so what are your thoughts.

Loved it. My only compliant is that Sherlock was set up as having a very dark, uncomfortable side in the first few episodes -- he could even be a suspect -- but they backed off that and started humanizing him almost immediately. We've all seen Holmes as an Aspy. I would have liked to see him as less difficult and more threatening.

The Watson is fantastic.

Did you just see the first 6 episodes? I haven't been able to find any beyond that.

There are only 6. I've only seen the first 3. They do plan on more by the end of the year, but Moffat is finishing up writing on some sci-fi series about a Doctor. :D

EDIT: Actually it may be next year that Series 3 comes out.

I read that too fast and thought you wrote Morgan Freeman...that would be an interesting casting choice to be Bilbo... :p

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Remember that bombshell that I thought was needed in Alcatraz? If tonight's twists didn't qualify, then it happens next week.
