Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Ok, I'm officially struggling to get through the Terra Nova episodes on the DVR.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Me too. But I made the commitment and will struggle my way through them.

I love House. I think it's a great show. It's COMPLETELY formulaic and every episode is the same. However, there is always an overarching storyline that's intriguing and well done. Plus the characters are developed really well.

Terra Nova is formulaic and every episode is the same. But there isn't any discernible storyline that is tying everything together (outside of a time traveling family in Jurassic Park). The characters, outside of Zoe, are boring and have no development whatsoever and I'm finding the dinosaurs have more personality. Zoe has absolutely stolen the show from any of the other characters. Her scenes are delight to watch, but unfortunately, you can't base a show like this on a single five-year-old.

It's sad, because I thought this show had so much potential and a good financial backing. However, the terrible writing will seal the show suffers a fate similar to that of the dinosaurs.

I just got into the show this week after someone showed me the first episode. So far I've seen the first four episodes watching reruns online. It's got promise, but the constant attempts for dramatic one liners is getting old.

Yeah, only one show has mastered the dramatic one liners...

Is anyone watching Rules of Engagement? I just caught my first full episode this week, and I was rolling! Patrick Warburton and David Spade both play their archetypes, and the others on the show put in solid (not great) performances.

I've watched this since Day 1 and find it be very underrated.

Agreed! I find it a little odd they have gone very light on the whole baby storyline this season, not that I'm complaining because they've had some quality episode plots so far.

"He got one less never!"

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

The Walking Dead is pretty good this week...The Sophia twist at the end was pretty awesome.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I've been watching season 4 of Californication; I'm through the first four episodes. I'd have to say that the opening to episode 2 was the best opening thus far, where Hank, Runkel and Marcy all end up sitting in bed together. It was entirely predictable, but excellently executed.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

So Dexter.

....EH.

I love the show, but Jesus, I had this called since the first episode. What a huge, huge letdown. The twist would've been that they HADN'T gone with the twist.

Now, the whole Ice Truck Killer fanboys...that's something that has potential and I look forward to seeing what they do with it.

Yes it was. And it bodes well for the second half of the season as the "farm" plot was getting pretty strung out. I think part of it was that the budget for the show was cut for this year. Hopefully, AMC puts the dollars back into the budget as The Walking Dead is by far the most successful show on AMC (almost 3X the ratings of Mad Men.)

Wait, what? Really?

Man, I will never understand people's fascination with zombies.

It provides pretty good wish fulfillment for people who daydream about brutally slaughtering brain dead morons.

But TWD is a legitimately good show. I love that it veers away from the source material as much as it does.
