Yea, after watching the pilot she is the reason I won't watch any more episodes.

I went through the whole first season of Girls in two days. I can definitely see why people hated it, but I thought it was pretty brilliant.

I watched the first episode and couldn't stand it. The girl who lost her internship and was cutoff from her parents' teat annoyed me to no end. The friend from overseas was even more pretentious, and all the guys in the show could have used 2x4's upside their heads.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Finally got around to watching Last Resort, Awesome!

Yeah it was pretty epic! I was astounded by the end of it :)

edit: I think HIMYM pretty much gave away there is no twist to who gets married ;) Episode was ok this week.

Vegas pilot was pretty good and worth a look.
I liked it, but I just hope it doesn't turn into a standard cop drama, like Alcatraz did last season. It needs to be something different, something more than a cop show for me to stay interested. For now, I'll keep watching, but I'm not sticking with this one if it starts to be a "solve the case each episode" type of show.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I havent watched it yet (it is on the DVR) but I would think that the overarching story of how Vegas became VEGAS would be enough to prevent it from being just another cop show. I will know more when I watch it later ;)

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

People are watching Go On?

I liked Go On, just not enough to supplant Criminal Minds or New Girl from their pre-existing spaces on my DVR schedule. I wasn't all that excited by the New Girl season premier, so I may swap that for Go On if I feel the same way after this week.

It's also NBC, anything that isn't completely panned by both audiences and critics will be picked up by them, they picked up Whitney for a 2nd season.

Eh... it was okay but I wasn't going to be a regular watcher. The one I'm upset may not be picked up is Guys with Kids. Good show but pretty much because I can relate very well to that show.

Agree with you about New Girl. I wasn't completely sold on that show last season so think I will drop it.
But I loved Whitney. Stunned but very glad it's back.

To me, it just seems like a retread of Crime Story, after they left Chicago and went to Vegas, and Crime Story did it much better. they've got Chiklis and the other mobsters in suits, but it really doesn't have the look of a period piece, the hairstyles and clothing just don't look like they belong of that era. Whereas Crime Story, in addition to being well scripted and acted, looked the part as well.

Magic City on Starz was set in the same era, but they captured the look and feel of the time better also.

And if you've never seen Crime Story, you should. The show that introduced Dennis Farina.

I didn't think I could get into New Girl that much because of Deschanel, but the characters are across the board fairly unique even if at times a bit over the top.

Will try to give Last Resort a try but there's only so much time in a week...

I think there will be a mix of This Week's Villain and various story arcs (every show follows that model now; it's easy to sell to advertisers for holding viewership).

I'm a fan of morally ambiguous leads and the Vegas lead may be too good to hold interest for very long. They did do a good job of throwing a ton of characters at us very quickly (there are, what, ten significant characters already after one episode?), so that might help it from getting stale. Also, Baldy has a chance to be a sometimes on the good side, sometimes on the bad side type.

And the Love Interest is hot (if you're 40).

Schmidt is great.

I liked Whitney, but to me it is the type of show that should be on a cable station. The humor that they are going for just isn't going to fly on network TV, I remember think last season that they had to change things because the network didn't approve of the original way they went. I don't know what to make of the move to Friday, it might have been sent their to die, or it might become a DVR staple, but the target audience isn't the type to sit at home on Friday nights to watch TV.

I watched two episodes and deleted the series from my DVR list. DOes it get any better or were they pretty much the same throughout? (Some series you need to get over the first couple episodes before you find the good stuff.)
