TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I'm watching the new episodes out of some warped sense of obligation and not because I like the show anymore).

This would explain why a lot of shows stay on air longer than they need too. I still watch the Office. The new episodes are crap but I have been watching from the beginning so I feel like I have to keep watching.

I'm sure that inertia will do that, keep believing that the show will be great again.

My fear with HIMYM is that Ted is going to meet the mother and that will be the end of the show, I want to know what he does to get the mother to marry him.

Because if I watched eight seasons that can be summed up in the line: "I meet your mother at the train station after Aunt Robin's wedding" and THAT'S the point at which the show ends, I'm gonna be ****ed.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Stopped watching HIMYM mid-season last year. But I'll watch the last episode, if only to see if it ends with Marshall slapping the ever living **** out of Barney.

You've been reading Handy's posts for too long if you think it'll just end with them meeting for the first time; obviously it'll also go into the development of their relationship.

(and why I NEVER EVER watch the show in syndication. Actually, I;m beginning to feel that I'm watching the new episodes out of some warped sense of obligation and not because I like the show anymore).

I was pretty amazed at how poorly HIMYM re-runs hold up in syndication. They're just not that great.

It's really difficult to cut the cord on TV shows once they go bad. I skipped the last couple HIMYM's last season, and didn't watch the first, so I think I'm in the clear.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I understand that they don't want us to meet the mother until Ted does, but (for me) knowing who the mother is but not how they meet wouldn't detract from the overall story. Actually, at this point, not knowing who the mother is actually detracts from the whole overall story for me (and why I NEVER EVER watch the show in syndication. Actually, I;m beginning to feel that I'm watching the new episodes out of some warped sense of obligation and not because I like the show anymore).

I hadn't thought of that, but I agree. Not knowing the mother is starting to get annoying. We've thought several people have been the mother now, so now everyone is just jaded. They have to meet and we have to know it's her relatively soon to keep interest in the main plotline of the show.

No, I've suffered through way to many *** endings from long running shows to not become a bit jaded, ending a show isn't usually done on the creative teams terms and thus isn't something that people have gotten good at.

It has nothing to do with my posts...watch interviews with the cast it ends when they meet. They are all signed for 8 seasons it wont go beyond that. (this is season 8)

It was always set up this way and unless CBS gets desperate they have no need to continue it. Since they are pretty much killing in ratings I doubt they will do what NBC did with Scrubs.

I said the kids should be ****ed...me I stopped getting upset about it 2 seasons ago ;) I watch the show for Barney at this point :D

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Well, due to the comments here, and my experience through suffering all of the Friends series, I just ain't gonna watch anymore (last season is the "newest" I haven't seen). I know that pain of completing a series because of so much time invested. I'll just wiki it when the series ends.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I DVR it and nothing else is on in its place so I watch. I wont go beyond this season though unless it changes the name to "All The Chicks Uncle Barney Nailed while Ted Sat Around Being a ******" :D

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Well, I liked Last Resort, but the ratings suck and it got stuck in the ****tiest time slot of the week so it'll last about a month.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I'm half way through Last Resort on the DVR and I love it so far. They better not cancel this one.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I really liked it, too. I wonder how long they'll be able to keep up the premise. Andre Braugher is great.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I knew I remembered Braugher from somewhere, I just couldn't put my finger on it: House.

I completely agree. I think he's fantastic.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I think that Last Resort is going to be a Love It or Hate It type of show with not many people in the middle ground.
