TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I didn't see the knife coming, but when that guy showed up at the beach where Gyp was, I figured he was gonna kill him. Didn't Nucky and Eli find him at the house? I figure the bargain for letting him go was he had to take care of Gyp. Just figured he'd shoot him.

How about the Richard's shootout?!?!?! You just knew that was going to be awesome when we saw him gearing up in the previous episode. Where his story goes now has be very interested. I'm also curious to see what happens with the distillery. We know that Rothstein is being set up huge there, but will Nucky get the chance to take it back over like he was originally supposed to? Hope to see more Capone in season 4. Like I say, after his epic line at the end of the previous episode I hope to see more from him in the finale. Despite the animosity between his crew and Chalkey's crew I do feel like they had a mutual respect for each other by the end.

Holy. F*.

Okay.....Otto's nuts. He's Section 8.
Gemma will recant her testimony/statement against The Good Doctor. It's a power play move, to flaunt her dominance. Too much at risk.
Clay needed to go to move the story forward. Whether he actually dies or goes parallel storyline to Otto....we'll see.
The Tig solution surprised me a bit. Hardcore.
Bobby Elvis resigning.....I guess you could see it coming.....as of now he's still MC, but.....yeah, choose your direction with him at this point.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Anyone watch Shark Tank and/or Dragon's Den? I know it's usually at the same time as college hockey games, but perhaps online?

Very good ending to what could be their best season yet.

I'm wondering if Gemma didn't even do anything, and Donal Logue's character just found a way to have her arrested anyway. Gemma pouncing to console Jax would be something I would expect regardless of why Tara's being lead away in cuffs.

Seriously, though, that was a well executed season finale.

Finally caught up on Boardwalk Empire. Harrow is a badass. Looking forward to seeing what happens with Luciano and Lansky, who we know from real world history become big players in New York.

Two of my favorite shows. I orginally liked Dragon's Den a lot more, but Shark Tank has improved over time. I like how they follow up with some of their investments to show how they are doing today. It would be great if there was some way of tracking the overall success of each Shark to see their total return on investment.

One thing I saw on Wikipedia is that if you appear on the show (at least for the US version this is true), 5% equity in your company goes to Mark Burnett Productions (yes, the same Mark Burnett responsible for Survivor, The Apprentice, and many others in this new evolution of game shows known as "reality"), and that seems to be regardless of a deal. I'm not sure if this comes out of the shark's share, or if it's in addition to the shark's share, but it would explain why you don't see too many pitches on Shark Tank where the person gets exactly what they asked for, unlike Dragon's Den where Jim Treliving waits and then says, "I'll give you what you want."

I don't know about tracking return on investment, though, because that really gets into proprietary issues with the businesses that make it onto the show.

Thats a bit crazy that Burnett gets 5% (I could see something like 2%), but these businesses are getting a ton of exposure that a company their size would never be able to afford.

I realize that nobody would expose their books showing returns, but its just something that would be fun to see.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Was able to catch up on Sons and Walking Dead finales today, after being gone all week. Both were excellent.

On Walking Dead, I really am starting to hate Andrea. I never did really like here, but really, she is ****ing me off this season. Carl is an absolute badass, and he's going to be mad as hell when the new kid starts hitting on his blond girl. I really hope they don't kill off Merrel and Darrel, well, actually, I don't care what they do to Merrel, but Darrel is awesome.

For Sons, the solution to the Tig/Pope problem was awesome. Did not see that coming. I figured Jax would actually let Tig get killed off. I don't think the charges against Tara will stick, but I bet it takes most, if not all of next season to get her out.

I kept waiting for another twist, like Pope letting Tig live with the idea that Jax was going to give him up.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

So, since I've been away for awhile and I'm just catching back up on the thread...

W T F?! THey cancelled Last Resort!? Are they ****ing serious? Yeah, let's put it up against X-Factor, Big Bang Theory, and Two and a Half Men and expect it to pull in huge ratings. JFC. I hate television. Have they announced what pile of ****ing **** reality show will replace it?

On a more positive note, Chicago Fire survived despite having ratings much lower than Last Resort...

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I'm almost through with season 1 of Homeland. This is an excellent show, right up there with Breaking Bad, Sons and Walking Dead.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Tatu Baby and Steve are my top two.....throughout the show, Steve has done a little better overall, but these last few weeks....holy buckets has Tatu Baby adapted and killed her tatts. If I had to choose today, Tatu Baby wins it.

If Sarah wins, that would be horrible. Sebastian's "good at everything, great at nothing" gives him more cred than "great at one or two things, horrible at others" like Sarah has.

ABC sucks...not as much as NBC sucks (and for completely different reasons) but it still sucks.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

It's like the Mid-90s to late-90s Fox executives have spread across the industry. Seriously, does anyone remember how poorly run that channel was? "When Washing Machines Attack" was given preference over actual shows that had production value. That channel almost died before the current crop brought some of the highest rated TV shows to the network. Seriously, it was THIS close to going the way of UPN.

I now see that same pattern (but in reverse) happening at ABC. ABC used to be the premier station for television. The best shows were kicking down doors to get on that channel? Now? Dancing with the Stars, the Bachelor, and other drivel have taken over.

If you would like to maintain that opinion, I wouldn't recommend watching past episode 5 of season 2.

I don't have premium cable, so I have to wait for the season 2 to come out on DVD.

I'll be honest, I loved the first season, although I am a little ambivalent about the way it ended. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a cop out, but I can definitely see how it would be hard to sustain some of the main storylines without making it seem like a delay tactic.
