TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

For the second season in a row, I like the "new school" guy the most. I'm not terribly into that style, but holy crap they are good.
He's my pick as the winner. If he doesn't win, he's the final cut.

By the way, go to inkmaster.spike.com, and check out the various artists' bios. You can see work they've submitted as examples to get on the show. When these remaining artists get to do their stuff without the various restraints, there's some flat out amazing work in their portfolios.

Like they said last week, (paraphrased) "It's not like anyone here did a bad tattoo. It's the fact that others did their tattoos better." Um, truth.

The nuances......and yes, I've looked at my tatts to find those.....these guys are above and beyond.

And of course, they give me ideas, too. ;)

I keep wondering if those people who had unfinished tattoos when the six hours are up get them completed by the artists after the show. And if they do, are they finished for free?

I would guess so? I looked into getting on the show as a tattoo-ee, but the travel requirements were too specific for any taking leave from work. If they aren't covered, no way would I sign up for that. I only say that because tatts are permanent. That's a commitment right there.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Raise your hand if you ever thought Wendy would be a more sympathetic character than Jax?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? :D

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Naturally, in the episode that introduces a new black male character to The Walking Dead, O-Dog/2-Dog bites the dust.

All hail 3-Dog! (Or perhaps Tyreese)

3-Dog will have more staying power.

My son, who reads the comix, was quite happy to see him. ;)

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

For Battlestar Galactica fans out there, it looks like there's a pilot/not-a-pilot episode split into 8 parts on YouTube. Here's the intro to the interview CNN did with David Eick.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/30/showbiz/bsg-online-series/index.html?hpt=hp_bn9

(CNN) -- "Battlestar Galactica," Syfy's reimagining of the 1978 TV series, stands as one of the most successful sci-fi franchises of the past decade.

Once the critically acclaimed show ended its run in 2009, fan interest in more adventures didn't waver.

Unfortunately, the first spinoff, "Caprica," only lasted one season, but another potential series, "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome," showed promise.

Now, more than two years since "Caprica" ended, fans are finally able to see the pilot for "Blood and Chrome" on YouTube's Machinima Network (eight parts have been posted).

CNN spoke to executive producer David Eick and actor Luke Pasqualino (who stars as a younger version of Edward James Olmos' character, Cmdr. William Adama) about the new series.

He's already had more lines than the other two put together. But yeah, T-dogg2 certainly didn't last long. But another great episode from this season. Really been good after the interminable self-reflecting yakfest last season on the farm tuirned out to be.

And Boardwalk Empire, while not quite the glorious ending I had hoped for, was still really good. Richard Harrow did not disappoint.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Not sure if anyone else watches Boardwalk Empire what with all the Walking Dead talk but the season finale was last night and it was great. Should set up a very good season 4. After the way it ended with Capone in the previous episode I was hoping for a bit more awesomness from him in this one but it was still great.

I'm sure if more people had HBO, we'd be talking more about their shows. I've heard nothing but great things about Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones (although I've more or less been able to watch GoT through all the clips that wind up on youtube and knowing the story).

Boardwalk is on my radar to catch up on via Netflix, so I agree with you on your HBO take.

Other HBO stuff to Netflix if you havent seen them (besides Boardwalk and Game of Thrones): The Wire, Deadwood, Treme, Carnivale. Those 4 shows are my favorite things HBO has done (Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones are right there too). Oz and The Sopranos are very good to but for me I did not like them as much as the others. Some mini-series they have done are great too namely of course Band of Brothers and The Pacific but also From the Earth to the Moon which is a great series. Veep is a new one that has only had one season but is hilarious. To put it another way, The Wire, Deadwood, Carnivale, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and From the Earth to the Moon were so good IMHO that I bought the box sets of each.

edit: Forgot Six Feet Under. I dont own it but it is a very good series.

The Wire has been in my queue for a while, but due to me getting hooked on current shows like BB, MM, and SOA.....it's been put on hold. :(

Make the room and time. Seriously. It is absolutely one of the best shows, if not the best show, I have ever seen. I typically dont put any stock into the IMDB user ratings but it is ranked 2nd on IMDBs best tv series list behind only Planet Earth and pretty much every list that I have seen ranking the best tv shows of all time has it at or near the top (at least top 10). Some think it starts a bit slow but stick with it. There are a lot of charcters and they come and go and stories intertwine but man is it great.

I know. But as you can tell, the shows I like have great detail to them. I want to keep all the shows straight with all the details. And The Wire demands great attention, from what I hear.

I watched it last night. Was recording two other things at 9pm so I set the timer for the next replay at, like, 11:10pm. The DVR said it was an hour but cut out right at the end when he threw the carnation on the boardwalk. Did anything else happen after that? I'm bummed that Bobby Cannavale's run is complete (becauseIluvhim) but they needed to end Gyp's story.

The carnation thing was the end. I expected Gyp's ending to be different but at the same time was not surprised with the way he treated even his own people.
