Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Sorry, was out of town and had not been online in a while. Didn't scroll down far enough. It was a big letdown for sure.
Did you read below. There were some comments. For example I called it a maggot filled piece of ****.

RE: Mr. Robot

So far everything has been straight Fight Club But Computers including the heavily telegraphed Tyler Durden thing. If they can come up with an interesting twist on that, there's potential for something great. If they don't deviate from that at all, or come up with something lame, the whole thing ends up looking like a waste of time.

So obvious twist was obvious, but they also added another curveball that I don't think many people saw coming and set up some interesting possibilities for more surprises in the final two episodes of the season. This is definitely turning into a really, really good show.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

So Sesame Street is moving to HBO.

People are freaking out about this move. HBO will GIVE new Sesame Street episodes to PBS nine months after HBO first airs them, whereas PBS previously had to pay Sesame Street's parent company for each episode it aired in the past. The reason people are going ape **** over this new arrangement is that "wealthy" families will now get a benefit over poorer families. Never mind that HBO just saved this franchise from ruin for at least five years, people are now trying to turn it into a class warfare issue.

Sesame Street is an extremely evergreen show. There's really no benefit to see them as quickly as possible.

Did you read that Gawker article too? Luckily everyone in the comments ripped the author to shreds because one would literally have to not look into any of the actual information of the deal to think this is hurting poor people.

I don't remember what site wrote it, but if it was Gawker's article, I read it through an aggregator site.

Said article.

I like Gawker but, sometimes, seriously? Guy gets rightfully shredded in the comments.

The other good part is HBO is paying for double the amount of episodes.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Amazon Prime's series Catastrophe, I'm three episodes in and it's been a little bit of all right. Setup of the show is an American guy goes to London for work as an advertising agent. While he's there he meets a woman, gets her preggers, and story goes from there. It's been pretty funny so far.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Gawker is the worst. Yet I still find myself reading it.

Mainly dead spin. They reach so far most of the time it's amazing they haven't pulled a muscle.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Three things:

1) Does anyone know if you can watch channels on WatchESPN you are not subscribed to on cable? My dad doesn't get ESPNU, which MSU-Western will be on to start the football season. Usually ESPN, 2, U, and News are locked if there is live content, which can be opened with a cable log-in. So, will logging in open up everything or just what his cable plan allows (I think everything but U and Classic)?

2) Started watching Metastasis, I forgot who brought it up in the last thread. It's literally the same as Breaking Bad, and is good for picking up some of the language, but man are there some "off brand" things about it. Sometimes it's like they go between two different types of cameras. It will be the same style as Breaking Bad and then all of a sudden the next scene with be in that Telenovela type film. Also, the actress who is supposed to play Marie is awful at acting. Just awful.

3) Anyone have Crackle? They have Sports Jeopardy on there which is pretty cool. I actually do better than a lot of the contestants on there, but tried to do the online test for auditions and got maybe 2/3. Makes me wonder how guys pass the test, then get on the show and don't know some of the easier stuff.

Watching the CNN premiere of the Morton Downey Jr movie. Man, he was out there. You just don't realize the impact he had until you look back.

Gawker, Deadspin and Jezebel all reach but are all addictive. But the Comments on the articles typically pull them back to reality -- on Deadspin in particular there's usually as much or more serious content in the Comments than the article, and they're upvoted which dispenses with most of the HUR UR SO GAY derp.

io9 is great, though. Its only problem is the inundation of "paid content" which makes reading it a slalom between ad garbage.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Don't know if I'm late to the party on this one, but just finished the first season of Broadchurch, and I thought it was fantastic. It's a murder investigation that covers the full 8 episodes and I thought was very well written and acted. It has a slower pace but it keeps you interested.

Re: TV, or not TV, that is the question

Mentioned on GPL, I am definitely curious about The Bastard Executioner on FX. I hope that Amazon has a season pass option. I have no idea what this is about, nor if it will be any good. But it's Kurt Sutter (SOA creator) so I'll give it a shot.
