Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Why does that make him a hero exactly?

OK, that clip specifically probably doesn't, it's just funny. The fact that his moral convictions have led him to speak out against what he sees as a true societal danger--likely to his own personal detriment--is certainly admirable. We could do worse for a moral center than Stephen Colbert.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I guess if he had the sack to say that on his show not in a tweet I would think higher of him. I find his show and his opinions to be mostly lacking since he went corporate.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The thing that makes him a hero is the sigh before the joke.

That sigh says exactly what I think about Trump, this campaign, and where we are as a country that we even have to deal with this.

Again...making a joke (and not even a particularly clever one) does not make him a hero. Jon Stewart on The Late Show (which I thought was a rather overblown clip but still) was more heroic because he went on the air and said the truth. Colbert on the Report would have done that...Colbert on his makeshift Letterman Show doesnt have the cojones.

The Daily Show (especially when they were at the RNC) took way more chances and were way more important than anything Colbert has done in quite some time. It isnt unexpected, he has to deal with his corporate masters but it still holds.

Oh, it's all because...

Kepler needs a hero, Kepler's holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

Kepler needs a hero, Kepler's holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life, larger than life

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

E3 of The Night Of was a treat. It will never get the hype of any of the fanboy shows out there because no dragons, zombies, meth labs or gang wars, but the every present tension, wonderful character development and slow build toward the apex (including the final scene at Rikers) have made for a wonderful combination. Have to wonder where Turturro goes from here, but you can bet his role is far from over.

1990's and 2000's, they better be planning on showing 120 Minutes.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I swear to God, if they turn it into a wall of The Real World, I'm going to go nanners beating people with shovels.

I suspect that we're going to get a bunch of shows, and not much music. Yeah, I know. Big surprise there.
