Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The Good Place: The reveal that show had in its latest episode was fun. Hardly a revolutionary or never-been-used story device, but they did it well.

I watched the first two episodes, didn't hold my interest enough to keep it going. What was the reveal??? I've seen so much chatter about it.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Finished Season 2 of Daredevil. I thought it was a hot mess of too busy but overall pretty good.

First episode of Jessica Jones was excellent.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

So... Alec Baldwin is getting an entire episode of SNL to do trump.

Edit: ok he's hosting. The headline is a falsehood. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/01/alec-baldwin-host-saturday-night-live-donald-trump?mbid=social_facebook

Finished all 3 of Season 4 of Sherlock. Thought this was a better season than Season 3 and if it is truly the last season, I thought it did well to wrap up as it did. I will miss it though.

Started Masterpiece's Victoria -- Really enjoyed the first episode (though I do love Rufus Sewell). Also looking forward to watching The Crown on Netflix.

Watched the first episode of the Man in the High Castle. Not sure that I'm up for watching it in this political environment, but it did get me hooked. I had some much stronger reactions to some scenes than my husband, which I found interesting given our different backgrounds. I was raised Jewish and seeing all the swastikas really jarred me initially - I still have a visceral reaction to them despite no longer practicing the Jewish faith; my husband definitely didn't have as strong a reaction. I also started to cry when I saw the "snow" which confused my husband until one of the characters explained that it wasn't snow, but it was the day of the week in which the invalids and elderly were burned. My family made us all watch Schindler's List at a young age and I guess it left more of a mark than I thought.

I am through E2 of S4 and hope to close it out today. It's been wonderful so far so here's hoping it finishes just as strongly. Wonder if they'd ever consider a big-screen movie? Would it lose its charm if they went that route? Maybe but the right writers and directors could reign that in I believe.

I wouldn't be adverse, but I was wondering if they're winding down with the difficulty of scheduling everyone. Cumberbatch is everywhere and Martin Freeman has done a fair bit of work as well. Mark Gatiss has just taken a new role in a Tom Hardy series. Moffat has Doctor Who. I found the last episode immensely enjoyable, I look forward to your review. I thought the acting was fantastic and the bulk of the story was great.

The reveal: The Good Place is actually The Bad Place, with the Bad Place's designers punishing only the four main dead characters by giving two of them a secret that they can't keep and they invariably torture each other by continuing trying to keep those secrets.

Like I said, it's not an overwhelmingly original twist, but they did it really well.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

“Tucker Carlson Tonight” is up 95 percent in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most compared with the same period in 2016, when “The Kelly File” occupied the 9 p.m. ET time slot.

Carlson has averaged 775,000 viewers per night in the category, while Kelly averaged 398,000 during the same time period, Jan. 11–22.

To put this in perspective, there are roughly 320 million people in America of whom about 50% are between the ages of 25 and 54. That's 165 million. So Fox is talking about moving from .002% to .005% of that age cohort.

It wasn't in Flag's link, but just the same I noticed you didn't mention how bow-tie Tuck is doing ratings-wise against your heart-throb Rachel Maddow. Oversight on your part? ;)

I'm not surprised by either. Tucker reaches the mind that watches cable news all day and all night. Rachel and Megyn do not.

My girl will be just fine, thanks. :-)
