TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

I have an actual question about a TV, not a TV show. I have a 42" Vizio TV that I think needs a new IR sensor. I cannot find one from a reputable place - only on Ebay, and it's around $20 (part 3632-0022-0189). Worth a try, or just suck it up and get off my *** to turn on the TV? Or is there a source I'm not aware of?

That’s how a lot of repair parts are found. When my stand mixer blew out it’s worm gear, I bought my first part from a random vendor on amazon. When I had to replace my jet dry cap on the dishwasher, it went to an even sketchier looking site.

Go for it. It’s $20. Are you sure it’s not the remote?

Watching the 2nd season of The Toys That Made Us. A flippant, yet informational, series on various toys like Lego, Barbie, Transformers, etc. Netflix Streaming, very much worth a watch.

9-1-1 doesn’t completely suck.

I’m going to re-up this comment. I’ve seen a few more episodes and I like the show. It’s like the Chicago series on NBC but less Dick Wolfy and more like This is Us.

It’s mindless entertainment. So don’t expect Westworld.

Saying as show is "more like This is Us" is not a good way to convince people to watch it.

Roseanne got cancelled about five hours after she tweeted something racist about a former Obama aide.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

More people would than would if you compared it to The Americans :p

(I never watched either show)

The Americans was really good for one season and then went downhill. This is Us was sh-t from the very first scene.

The Americans never grabbed me. I wanted to like it, but I ended up giving up on it sometime in season 2, I think. Maybe season 3. But still, I have quite a bit more respect for a show like The Americans than I do for This Is Us.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Finally finished the Twin Peaks revival. It was really slow to get going, and so I originally lost interest around Ep. 5 last year when it came out, but picked it up again last month and finally plowed through it. If you prefer the first 20 or so episodes of the old series, I could definitely understand shutting this off after the first few episodes. With Lynch and Frost having full creative reign on a premium cable network, that meant Lynch was able to do all his agonizingly slow takes with the camera, and his weirdest surreal/supernatural sh*t. I think it took until somewhere around Ep. 7 or 8 to finally become something worth finishing.

I disliked that so much of it took place outside of the show's namesake town, but ultimately the revival is more about the story of Agent Dale Cooper than it is a true continuation/3rd season. I had the ending pretty much pegged from the get-go, as I knew Lynch wasn't going to leave "traditional TV fans" with a neat, conclusive ending in which all the plot threads and characters are nicely tied up. He's just not that kind of guy. I did love Laura Dern as Diane. Worst part? Not enough Madchen Amick. Best part? No Lara Flynn Boyle. :D

Is there anyone who has gotten elective plastic surgery that actually looks better? They all look like something that resembles a wet shirt over a pile of Lincoln logs.

After I posted my original comment, I think the show lost me:

SPOILER Alert

One of the main characters gets a piece of rebar through his head and out of his forehead. Like dead center.

He was back on the job as a firefighter like four episodes later. Sorry, I can suspend disbelief, but that’s ****ing stupid.
