Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

The addition of Teddy KGB to Billions is truly excellent. I can only assume they are setting up Season 4 as parallel battles of Chuck vs AG Jeffcoat and Axe vs Teddy KGB. Maybe a little cooperation between Chuck and Axe to solve each others "problems?"

The only thing that would make it better is if he was actually playing Teddy KGB :D

I'm a big Malkovich fan - and realize I'm probably in the minority for those that saw the move - but I absolutely loathed both him in that role and the movie. In fact the combo might only be surpassed in unearned hype by Kevin Spacey and Usual Suspects.

I'm not sure you're in that much of a minority. Given the sizable amount of acting talent actually in that movie, Rounders (and Malkovich's role in it) will never find it's place in the upper echelons of cinema.

It's niche movie. If you are a person (usually male) with a sizable inclination towards gambling, especially poker or card playing, you probably loved the movie. It hit the perfect notes for those people, and I include myself in that group. And if you spend time running in those circles, or reading message boards like 2+2, you realize there are Teddy KGB type characters out there and everyone has a story about one they've crossed, thus the somewhat mythical level to which Malkovich's character has risen.

But everyone else I know watch the movie and are basically, "meh."

I should have clarified - I'm in the minority of those that play cards/gamble. I'm an aficionado (wannabe? ;)) myself and I still thought it was a ham-fisted attempt with him going full caricature and not in a good way. I get everything you're saying though and don't begrudge a countering opinion - it just never resonated for me.

I don't know how The Americans keeps finding ways to top itself but they've done it again!!

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

I just rewatched the dance scene from Legion 2.1. One of the best sequences to a show I’ve seen in a while in terms of its goofiness and originality. I had to know more so I read up on a few sites and it sounds like Hawley used it in place of a Michael Bay-like mutant battle. A number of sites also have some interesting theories about what that scene reveals.

ETA:
2.2

You’ve been lying to us.
About what?
Everything.
That’s a lot.

🤣

They learned to burn slow, occasional flare-up, then burn slow, flare-up, burn slow, burn slower, then for the finale: toss some gas on the fire.

Just tease enough each time to keep you going, then BOOM.
