3 episodes in on season 2 of Altered Carbon. I like it.

Trying to finish season 1 and 2 of West World before season 3 hits. Over half way into season 1 and am enjoying it very much. Saw the trailer for season 3 and even more intrigued.

Followers. Japanese (dramedy?) on Netflix centering around a famous photographer who encounters an down on her luck wannabe actress. 2 episodes in so far and I will definitely keep going.

WW S1 is the best season of any TV show in history. Enjoy every second of it. It's absolutely brilliant.

Watched 2 episodes of The Hunters. Might be good, but i cant watch anymore. The character Jonah completely ruins it for me.

He annoys me as well. He does take a bit more of a backseat after those first couple episodes, thankfully.

My wife likes it, I'm pretty "meh" on it. I can't tell if it is better now (on episode seven), or if I've dropped my expectations without realizing it. It drives me a little crazy because it can't decide what it is. I do like Radnor more than I thought I would. Still feels like you're watching Ted a bit, though.

Homeland is actually good again. Also creepily mimicking real life as a peace deal with taliban was signed this week

West World Season 1. Perfection. The perfect ending.

Yep.

They did the impossible: they made something extremely entertaining but did not dumb it down at all. They went balls deep on intelligence, didn't worry about losing the audience, and stuck the landing.

S2 makes more compromises -- it's less intellectual and more hurr hurr boom boom. That's the punishment for being a hit. But it's still pretty darn good. Let's say they went from a 99 to a 93 on the Hardness Scale, whereas most great TV is an 80 and most TV in general is a 30.

S1 is the crown jewel of the Golden Age of Television.

I will be full bore on season 2. The trailer for season three looks amazing. They gave the premise in the little "about the show" segment at the end of the season 1 finale for season 2 so I understand the premise and why it's not likely to be as wonderful as season 1 already.

Re: TV: A Succession of Watchmen in The Good Place

The philosophical emphasis is different in S2.

Three philosophical questions run through West World:

What is Mind?

What is Will?

What is Being?

The focus changes in each of the arcs but they are all always present. S1 has the advantage that it is all still brand new so we're blown away by the sophistication of the presentation. The takeaway from mass entertainments when they try to be smart is always disappointment: no matter how much you're enjoying it you are always bracing yourself for when they sell out so they don't lose the audience. S1 never sells out. It's like drinking a glass of fresh water after 56 years of drinking muddy water (good movies) or sewage (good TV). It's actually worth the time, not just killing time, in a way that a few books, a few movies, and hitherto no TV has been.

WWS2 can't keep up that high standard, but it's still light years ahead of almost everything else on TV. If there's any TV that's better than WWS2 it's S1 of Mr. Robot and the better parts of S1 of Galactica.

S1 of West World was excellent. It's a completely different mindset but my favorite single season of any show ever is S1 of Broadchurch, but it might be a 1a and 1b fight. The latter is not nearly as cerebral, but the personal emotions that BH put me through, combined with several performances from the leads, are why it resonates so much for me.

Broad church 1 and Twin Peaks 1 are so good.

undone. Girl having domestic problems has a car accident and becomes unstuck in time. I recommend it. It's Netflix I think.
