TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

Today I went to a Law & Order pop up event at Faneuil Hall. It was free, I wasn’t expecting much but I had the day off and I’m a long time fan so I went. Two of the stars of the current show were there - unexpected treat! Got a picture with them. They also had free sweatshirts (!) that they would personalize with a patch. I did the Dun Dun patch. Also got a tote with Dun Dun on it and an autographed picture of the two cops that were there in person. Kane’s Donuts - a local trendy donut store was there with free donuts and coffee. All in all, not a bad take!

Not a huge Scorcese fan either. Without going through his entire filmography, I'd guess I've seen maybe four or five of his movies. And never seen Goodfellas.

Just looked. Seven. Didn't realize he did Shutter Island and Last Temptation of Christ.

The youth at my job watch Caillou.

Quite possibly the worst thing to come out of Canada since the dawn of time. Worse than Bieber or Nickelback.

I am on episode 2 of Rings of Power...it feels like LOTR Cosplay. Or more like it feels like when say the cinematographer for the film takes over because the director left the project before the sequel. It (kind of) looks like the original but something just feels off. It doesn't help that it has a massive case of the "I have no lines so I just stare intently at something (often the camera) so it looks like it is a serious situation"! Sometimes the acting style reminds me of bad soap operas my friends watched in college like Passions.:cool::p:D;)

I am going to keep watching (I gotta see my boy Tom Bombadil!) but honestly the Shadow of Mordor video game feels more legit than this does so far. I know they only have the rights to so much stuff so they can't really do the real story but I dunno.

I’m years late to the party but I started The Wire and I’m now on season 5 episode 6. Fucking GREAT show and GREAT acting.

please tell me Omar survives and Marlo and his whole crew gets got!!!

I am not going to spoil that for you. I will say, after watching a certain episode, it's maybe the only time watching a show or movie where I almost felt physically sick afterward.

The greatest show that's ever been on TV. Better than The Sopranos. I will say, better than Breaking Bad, although I've never seen it. But The Wire is in a class all by itself.

I actually did. The rest of the show was a little better than the monologue thankfully but that was not the place to do stand up.

I hated it at first but then liked it (well, kinda) after I got what he was doing. It was Kaufmanesque. If you're going to do that you have to go Full Andy. Never go Half Andy.

The show itself was the best of the last couple seasons, despite You Know How I Know You're Gay? Sabado Gigante was as good as anything SNL has ever done.

I didn't understand the significance of the golf skit although it was good; was that topical? Did something happen IRL?

He is hilarious...but SNL sucks ;)

I'd never heard of him. Is he a stand up? I would definitely see him. He does fantastic straight face.

SNL doesn't suck, it's uneven. The performances are actually pretty close to spot on every week now. It's when the writing fails that it's a human rights crime.

GD it!

2 and 1/2 episodes left in Season 5 of The Wire and the writing just dropped right off a cliff. Forced, rushed and just BAD writing. Omar suddenly does a complete 180 in terms of going from a calculating plotter to just announcing on the street “tell Marlo to come to the street” (paraphrasing); McNulty hatches a bizarre and really kind of lame scheme to mess with crime scenes to make it look like a serial killer was killing homeless people and beyond that Lester agrees with this plan??!?! WTF!!!

ugh. I almost don’t want to finish the show now.

Having said that my favorite tv shows of all-time in no particular order
The Sopranos
The Wire (sans the last half of season 5)
Justified
The Twilight Zone (Rod Serling original run)
True Detective

Proof being Nate’s episode last season was fantastic, and this season’s was meh.

I thought this week’s episode was one of the best for consistency across sketches they’ve had in a while. S?bado Gigante was hilarious and it’s too bad that a lot of people don’t realize it’s was an actual show and the sketch was barely a parody. The Mile High Challenge was great and loved the cartoonish CGI in the golf one.

It helps Bargatze is able to play the perfect straight man. Opens up the cast do their own thing and play off him because most of cast are not good at being the “normal” people in sketches.

Finished The Wire…GD, my grade would be 10 for the series if stuck the landing. But for reasons of unknown to me they really screwed up the ending. First 4 seasons are a 10. Season 5 is a 5 at best. Cut corners, rushed the story, very disappointing.

I also loved that they revived the George Washington bit.
