Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

A new season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries started on PBS and my DVR didn't list it as "new" so I missed 2 episodes already before I could change my settings. grrrrr.

Anyone checking out You're the Worst on FX? I've enjoyed the first few episodes.

The wife and I are enjoying that one and Married. Definitely like YtW better at this point. The opening scene of the second episode had me laughing more than I've laughed at a TV show in quite some time.

Yeah, we both got a kick out of that show so far...

I caught up with The Leftovers yesterday afternoon. I'm really starting to like this show. I like the kind of shows that always leave you wondering what's going on, and that is exactly what this show is doing.

Anyone watch Hemlock Grove? I have no idea what's going on or why I am still watching it, but I keep hoping at some point something will make sense.

Anyone else stick with Halt and Catch Fire? Last night was a lot of fun, seeing how they responded to each crisis. That Macintosh reveal at the end was cool.

Yeah, the last few episodes have been really good, which is a shame, because after the first couple, they sort of fell off the track a bit, probably lost a bunch of viewers who will never make it back.

So was the Macintosh the subject of that Apple commercial from the Super Bowl way back then, the Orwell themed one with the woman athlete throwing the hammer at the big screen talking head?

Correct. The best part for me was Joe's realization at the end that he wasn't nearly the visionary he thought he was. Steve Jobs is a visionary. Joe is a salesman.

It may have been part that, but it was also the realization that he did have something groundbreaking and original, and he let it go for the sake of commerce, to sell just another beige box.

So I got myself caught up with Gang Related. At first I thought it was ok but nothing great. After watching the rest of season one I changed my mind. I hope this show gets renewed.

But since I like the show, it means certain doom for it.

It's OK summer viewing, but pretty formulaic.

Episode 3 killed the series

Yep.

Meanwhile, I'm tiring of Longmire. There's more crime in that Wyoming county than on a Saturday night in Chicago!

It would be a pretty boring show if they showed the actual level of crime in a Wyoming county. It would be the drama version of watching soccer.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Saw a couple shows between Hulu, Netflix, and Crackle that I remember from NBC. Started re-watching "Wings" and "News Radio."

Both are slightly dated, but the early episodes seem to hold up okay. So far. Although there certainly are some humor and word play that went over my head growing up. :D

And Goddammit was Phil Hartman a brilliant man. :(

Wings is one of my all time favorite shows! :D

Fun fact, the episode where Frasier and Lillith show up is what ultimately lead to the show Frasier. Kelsey liked working with the crew of Wings so much that when he was thinking of projects to do post Cheers he said he would continue the character if he could work with them. I wonder how that worked out ;)

I'd forgotten that's how Frazier came to be.

And News Radio was simply outstanding, especially for those of us who've worked in the biz. I think I've worked with just about every character on that show!

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Sometime in the past Theo Huxtable was mentioned (too lazy to go past 1st pagee to see context:o). But anyway Theo, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has been in the last couple of episodes of Major Crimes. Just recognized him last week. Playing SIS Lt. Cooper and a love interest for Detective Sykes. He had been in 2 earlier episodes, Dec. 2013 and Jan. 2014.

Personally I preferred The Closer, but the ensemble cast is still together. Jon Tenney, Brenda Lee's FBI agent husband, Fritz Howard, has reappeared. Looks like he is cast thru the rest of the summer run and the snarky Deputy Chief(Robert Gossett) offered him a job with LAPD.
