TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

I think there will be a number of differences. Clearly they're cannibals. In addition, the room with all of the candles had things written on the wall like "Never again" and "It's us before them" or "We stick together."

I believe they were set upon or took in people who betrayed them in a bad way and that now they're only taking in new people as a food source. There were people yelling for help from the storage containers that they ran past during the shooting.

The maps to Terminus are almost a spider web drawing in easy prey. Pretty smart plan actually and the foreshadowing also (in addition to the snare) happened when Rick and Michonne were talking about their day to day lives being consumed by looking for food.

Terminus has solved that little problem.

Seems almost cult-like. Jonestown.

They may have snared the wrong prey though.
I think you are 100% correct here. Hopefully they can keep the story original enough, without re-hashing some of the same plotlines from earlier. They should be able to.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Without posting spoilers, the entire last segment. The episode was fine until that.

Given how the last segment played out, they clearly had that bit written some 9 years ago. I didn't know if I was impressed that they kept it or horked off that they didn't decide to scrap it given the last couple seasons and built expectations.

Yeah, they've said they had the ending written before they started the show. I still don't like it.

I went on Facebook to see what reactions others were giving and it's mostly in line with yours. I think that I decided to like it. Mostly because they successfully *ed off a whole slew of people. We knew the mom was dying based upon an episode earlier (a lot of people are REALLY upset at that one). What we didn't see was the foolish twist, which turned out to be a giant EFFFF YOU to people who have been far too emotionally involved in a TV show. Fraden Scheude on my part to like it? Sure, I'll go along with that.

That Walking Dead ending has me actually excitedly looking forward to next season. None of the other season endings had me wanting so much to get on with the next season right now!!!I think that might have been the best episode in the entire series. And yeah, I'm hoping carol comes in and kicks azz.

You think Rick stabbed that guy enough times? Is there anything left of him, or is he just stew beef?

Yeah, I liked it too. They've stepped it up a notch lately. I'm still wondering what happened to Beth, will we ever see her again?

It actually bothered me more to see so much of the Barney-Robin developments of the last few seasons disappear entirely. Particularly with Barney, it was interesting to see them develop and change as characters. And then to just hit the reset button... I dunno. Seemed like a cop out.

I thought Barney's reaction to the divorce was completely in character. He changed for Robin, then when it ended he became what he thought himself to be. It took another profound lady in his life for him to truly change and to make it stick. That seemed right to me. The ending of the marriage itself annoyed me because as upset as he was at moving around, to simply end it when asked felt like a betrayal of the man he had become.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Well, I suppose it works in that Barney had changed and Robin not as much.

And the scene with his whoops-daughter was touching, I'll grant that.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

I think writing the ending in advance and sticking to it ended up killing the finale. At the time it was probably written, it might not have been such a bad idea, but a) They lucked into a really good actress as The Mother. There was a likability and chemistry there that none of Ted's other girlfriends ever had, and it wouldn't have been reasonable to expect a performance that good. And b) The show dragged on way longer than expected, and Ted/Robin became less and less likable as a couple with every "It just doesn't work between us. We need to grow up and move on."

If it had been Stella that got cancer and died and Ted ended up with Robin, that would have been a perfectly cromulent ending. Having it end like that tonight felt completely tone-deaf.

Pretty much this.

My reaction was "How your mother eventually died so I get to nail Aunt Robin again" but I like yours better. I'm sorry, but the whole episode seemed a conventient plot mechanism to me.

But lets be honest. I've only been watching it for the past few years so I can drool over Cobie Smulders.
