The World Wars has grabbed my attention tonight. I'm going on about hour number 3. This show is excellent. Highly recommended.

I've heard several people mention it... I was gonna look it up ON DEMAND after the hockey game tonight... Is it like MEN WHO MADE AMERICA where it's a dramatic scene of what's happening and then experts explaining things or is it more of a pure documentary?

They have actors playing Hitler, FDR, Churchill, Stalin, etc. giving famous speeches and such, so it isn't a pure documentary.

Marilyn Manson and Annabeth Gish joining Sons Of Anarchy for the final season. That should be interesting. I do like Gish, she was awesome in the tv series "Brotherhood."

It was entertaining, but considering it was done by the History Channel, they got an awful lot of history wrong. A group of us were on Twitter discussing the various mistakes they made, And these aren't petty details, they messed up some pretty serious things.

For instance, the main thrust of Hitler's attack on France was not sending 4 million men into the Maginot Line. He went around the Maginot Line and made it irrelevant. Douglas MacArthur supported the New Deal (in particular the CCC as it employed many veterans) and military spending went up, not down under the New Deal (1930: $1.5 Bn, 1933: $1.4Bn, 1935: 1.9 Bn). The cuts were the result of the Great Depression, so that speech MacArthur gives FDR about the troops cursing him as they died would actually be aimed at Hoover. The war in the Pacific consisted of a little bit more than "Pearl Harbor, Philippines, Midway, Philippines, Wake, Japan" and the fighting was done more by the Marines (did they even mention the existence of the Marine Corps in the miniseries?) with just a little help from the US Navy. The aim of Gallipoli was to create a second Eastern Front to help the Russians, capture Constantinople (not Istanbul) and draw Greece and Bulgaria into the war on the side of the Allies. A nice side effect would be that the Dardanelles would be open for supplying Russia. There are many more but that's enough for now. Considering the target audience of a miniseries like that is people who like and study history, it's even more shocking they'd screw things up. I don't know how they convinced some of those historians to shovel their bull crap (did most Americans even know in 1993 that FDR used a wheelchair?).

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

A few months back I bought the full series of Chuck on dvd. I can't believe how many referential jokes are in the show. So far I've only watched through about 60% of season 2, and it just keeps surprising me. I'd forgotten about the GLG20 device jokes, and the upgraded GLG1000. The grenade they have to stop is model IG-88. The show has only started cracking into all the James Bond references. Tricia Helfer just made an appearance a couple eps ago, and now it's Scott Bakula's turn. Oh boy. :)
Loved all the references and stunt casting in that show.

Edit to add: Finally got around to the season finale of Mad Men. Good stuff.

I wonder if Fargo will have Malvo concentrating this week on the money that Milos buried instead of delivering. I can't imagine that character letting that one go.

One of the writers on 24 has to be a Boston sports fan. One character is named Belichek and another is named Rask.

Did anyone watch "Halt and Catch Fire"? Pretty interesting. I will continue watching.

Yes. I enjoyed it right from the beginning. Great pacing, great writing and very solid acting. Another home run for. AMC.

It's on again late Thursday/early Friday I think. Or maybe Fri/Sat. I had it set to record, but for some reason my DVR didn't pick it up, so I've got this one scheduled.

Yeah, I found it and set a recording. I think it is on at midnight tonight.

For the most part of the season, I felt like Hannibal was just treading water, but that was a pretty great season finale.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

I don't even know if I would call Louie a comedy anymore, but ****ed if it isn't a great TV show.

Crazy to think that Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumored to have been originally cast in this episode.
