Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

It's the second episode of the season, I'd hold off on things being slapdash until at least the halfway point. Even then, other than whatever is going on with Darryl Crowe (I'm guessing he steps into the weed business, and I don't mind Rappaport in the role at all), everything seems to be following a fairly natural arc.

It does, sorta (the arc). The random almost-dad-role sub-plot threw me off a little. I like the Rappaport role. Throw in the creepy cop bit....this ep was a bit out there, compared to past eps. Given the history of the show, no way am I giving up on it, just a little off-kilter right now.

I like the Loretta bits if only because it helps underscore an ongoing thread of Raylan's insecurities as a father that I don't think the show will be dropping anytime soon. That, and you kind of had to figure that Loretta wasn't going to just go off quietly into the night.

Speaking of old threads coming back to haunt people: Ava's storyline is on the slow burner right now, but I find it very fascinating. Same with the fact that Art is looking into Raylan's potential involvement with Nicky Augustine's death. Chickens are coming home to roost.

The dad bit I get. I hope that comes to fruition in a future ep. It just seemed to be thrown in there with no warning.

And the Ava thing....talk about chickens coming home to roost....

The Art thing....I don't think he's gonna retire anytime soon, but you know (or it should happen, if the show knows what's good for it) there will be a showdown between Art and Raylen. I think Art will keep finding some hook to keep him in. BTW, Art is awesome.

Holy frick balls are you all in for a treat when you finally watch the 3rd episode of the new run of Sherlock. 1st was a solid A-/B+, 2nd was C+/B-, and the 3rd is an A++++++.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

From what I got, and some I read on IMDB's discussion boardsPretty much that, and you can tell, these guys think Rust is a suspect. He disappeard for 8 years, now he's back and the killings have started again. But if you notice, his interview is a couple days earlier than Martin's. And the two detectives are sorta laid back with Rust, just letting him tell the story, I guess hoping he'll say stuff that will hang himself, while with Martin, they seem more interrogative, more procedural. So while it seems that's where the story is going, although I think it's too predictable to have Rust be the killer, there may be something the detectives found in his story that made them want to bring Martin in later and ask him questions.

And it also seems pretty obvious that what drove the two of them apart was that Rust slept with his wife.

Haven't been this excited about a new show since Game of Thrones.

I got the impression from Rust's interview, at the ending of the episode, that he seemed to already know that the original "killer" that was arrested, wasn't the right guy. It was just they way he talked about it to the new detectives.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

For commercial television The Black List is 1A and Person of Interest is 1B. The writing for these shows has been nothing short of awesome.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

I like Blacklist well enough, but I don't think it's the super-terrific show a lot of you do. But Person of Interest is so far above everything else on network tv right now it's not even funny. And I didn't start out that way with it, but starting last season with the whole Elias thing, and then Root, it's just gone on to a whole new level.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

I think Rapaport is really underrated as an actor. I don't recall being disappointed in any role he's been in, tv or movie. Agreed on the Canadian scene. That was hilarious. I do kind of wish they'd get rid of Dewey, though. He's more annoying than entertaining/etc.
I like him as an actor, but he's got SUCH a pronounced New York accent that it seems to always be there.

Decided to try The Following after the game last night and I might be sorry I didn't watch it until now.

Started Breaking Bad over the weekend. Didn't watch it while it was on and really don't know anything about the story other than the basic outline - HS chemistry teacher makes meth.

We're hooked. Halfway through season 2 already.

Just got Netflix and will be tackling many of the other shows that we've missed over the years - and since I don't really watch any TV, that will include just about everything.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

Had the first "oh, this is just a run of the mill episode with a bad guy and how they catch the bad guy" on The Blacklist.

And then at the end they dropped a bomb for next week to clean up. Holey Moley.

Re: TV 10: Blacklisted Sons: The Musical

So I'm noticing that there was a lot of a enmity launched towards the season premiere of Sherlock. I didn't think it was that bad. I'm wondering if some of that hostility is over the complete lack of sense Doctor Who has made in the last 2 seasons...

(yes, I'm well aware that Doctor Who have never made any sense at all, going all the way back to 1963, but at least the "logic" of the William Hartnell years was explained away by bad special effects and mumbling).
